2019 Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
We had a Daybreaks day out at the seaside yesterday and Brean was our destination! A few of us took Annie and Thena two of our longest stayers along with Bobby V, Fletcher, Skip, Lyra, Millie, Cello, Ellie, Gem and Tilly! Thena was an absolute star and Annie just needs more socialisation and an experienced owner as she spent more time with her feet off the ground then feeling the sand between her toes!!! they enjoyed a paddle in the sea once the tide came in. We certainly got people talking at Gloucester services too! Such a great day. Big thanks to Angie, Jo and all the volunteers who covered the kennels to make this trip possible xxxx photos have been added

2019 Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
It was an early start at Daybreaks today as we got Bocko ready for his trip to the Vets to be neutered, and made sure Annie & Thena had a good breakfast before they collected their buckets & spades in readiness for their seaside adventure!! At the time of writing this post the convoy of Daybreakers hadn't returned from their trip, but I am sure Ruth will update everyone with news of the day at the beach as soon as she can. It was a very quiet day, not surprising really being the end of the half term week, but big thanks to everyone who came along to help out and ensure the doggies had lovely walks both this morning and this afternoon. It is so lovely to see the change in Harry. He was paired up with the beautiful Rosie and he is thriving in her company - obviously needed a confident friend to show him the ropes. I cant believe it is the weekend again, I am sure someone is taking days out of the week without telling me!! We have our Mell Square roadshow tomorrow, and it is also Greyhound Day with a parade through Birmingham city centre. Lots going on to raise awareness of just what lovely pets Greyhounds make. I will make my usual toast, accompanied by a glass of red wine, that we see some red signs for our boys & girls over the next couple of days. Have a lovely weekend one and all. Angie xx

Daisy
I’m Homed
Great new from the New Forest from Stanley and Daisy. Daisy will be 6 on Saturday 1st June (Tim has made her a card!!!). She has been with us for 9 weeks now, seems longer. Stanley suffering with arthritis. Tim is walking separately, shorter and softer for Stanley who is now on CBD oil. Stanley and Daisy get on fantastic, rub noses and she licks his ears and feet (Spanner - mine too!!!) when he is lying down. She has made great progress with getting used to all the new dogs and breeds we meet, but small fluffy ones she is a bit too interested in at the moment. She is very affectionate to anyone visiting (shame about the hair loss), also if we meet people without dogs. We got her a Julius K9 harness, thank you Kate, seems to calm her and gives me better control. Unfortunately the first time she ran in the garden after 1.5 weeks ? hurt/damaged rear left leg and pad of right leg, 3 visits to vets. Been on lead ever since. However yesterday took her to Racing Kennels near Romsey and they really checked her over before running in the sand. No real problems, a little bit of scar tissue from racing days (and possibly when she jarred herself when running in the garden) we are very relieved. We hope that all the Greys get their forever homes/sofas soon. Lots of love Stanley, Daisy, Tim, Sue and Spannerxx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
The weather couldn't make it's mind up today, that was until this afternoon when it decided to rain! Thanks as always to our Wednesday walkers, and we had a couple of extra volunteers too, thanks to them also. I spoke to Willis's mom, he is doing really well, apart from not wanting to get out of the car. I normally find it's getting them in that is the problem! Fairly quiet for visitors, little Scarlet came in for a pamper with Jess, she too has settled well. Harry is getting very brave, he is such a lovely boy, I did try and convince Reggies dad that they would make a lovely matching pair, not sure that worked! I brought 2 of my hounds in, Arry, who has settled in brilliantly, he is such a good boy and gummy bear Max. Max had a dental last week and sadly has not a tooth left in his head bless him. We are getting ever closer to our 13th Birthday party, this is being held on 30th of June at the kennels. We will have picnic bags and games for both humans and dogs. Please come along and help us celebrate, we are keeping our fingers crossed that the weather will be as kind as it was last year. We will post more info nearer the time.
