Just a little update on little Daisy. She has been staying with us since Thursday evening when she returned from her neutering operation and having some teeth removed. Can't really make much comment on the first two days because she was quite poorly after her operation. She has been clean in the house, going into the garden to do what she needed to even when she was poorly. She is gaining confidence all the time, coming out of her cage to wait with our three for treats and meals. She has been for a little wander with Cello (Cello doesn't care about other dog breeds) and when she saw a small dog she was really interested but turned back when told no. Now that she is feeling better she is eating her meals, eating the same food as our three. From what we have seen of her so far, with a little bit of time for her to settle, she will be a lovely little dog to have in your home. Clean in the house, eating well and able to get on with other greyhounds.

Bobby
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Sadly Bobby is no longer Reserved. Unfortunately his new Mom fell over at home last week and had to go to hospital. Thankfully she didn't break anything but will be in hospital for a while. She feels it is best for Bobby to come back to the Trust. We wish her a speedy recovery and thank her for offering Bobby a home with her. Many thanks to Jill and Paul for collecting him today and dropping him at the kennels....After eating all his tea and going for a walk with Skip and Fletch he is now curled up in the bed by the radiator in our lounge! Xxx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!

A lovely day today. Thanks to Angie and Mike for taking Mikey out to the golf course, next time I hope they take me, sounded fab! Both Sam and Mikey reserved, such good news. Thanks so much to our volunteers, all dogs had lovely walks in the sunshine. Great to see Skip and Bert who came in for a bath, they smelled lovely when Jess had finished with them! Fantastic to see the update from Hectors foster parents, he really is a lovely boy. He really needs a second chance, I went into his kennel on Friday and got a great big kiss, in the eye! Well two new arrivals due tomorrow, so a busy start to the new week. Here's hoping for another good one. Take care, Jo. X

I had the pleasure of walking lovely Annie today on morning kennel walks. She's a small girl (compared to my boys anyway). She was very eager to go for her walk and was quite strong initially and pulled a bit (zig-zagging) but soon settled once her initial energy had gone. She wasn't phased by the cars going down the road past us. When we passed a house with a dog, older children and bikes she stopped to have a look but with some distraction techniques and getting her to walk on, she was fine. No problems with the heavy traffic on the main road. Hopefully this sweetheart will find her forever home soon.

Had a walk with Pearl today. Very eager to get out and walked at a brisk pace. Lovely character, very inquisitive. A man in a high vis jacket cycled past us, she watched with great interest, then carried out without worry. Responded to my commands quite well.

This is excellent news!! Although you are settling you strike me as being a more gentle soul who will definitely benefit and blossom more from having your own home. I loved your kisses and cuddles on Friday so I am sure your new family will have lots of affection from you. Well done sweet boy!!

We had the pleasure of the company of this gorgeous boy today as we gave him a day out from the kennels. He had to be lifted into the car (good job he is a small boy!!) but once in he travelled beautifully, lying down straight away and not disturbing. We had a great day in the fabulous Spring sunshine, we went down to the Golf Club and had a walk round the lake followed by coffee on the patio. Mikey was fascinated by everything going on around him, but walked beautifully and trotted along between us drawing admiring glances from the fishermen, golfers and other walkers. He was intrigued by the Canada Geese and other water fowl, but made no attempt to pull, bounce or anything else. I really think he revelled in being out and about. Back at our house he had a good sniff round as you would expect, did put his paws up on the kitchen counter once, but responded very quickly to a firm "no". Our TV screen now has a lovely nose print as he had a look at the "other dog" in the corner!! but was not phased at all by the noises that came from it when we switched it on. He does love a lot of fuss and did follow us everywhere - but everything was so strange and outside of his normal routine that this was only to be expected and considering all the new sights and sounds he was subjected to he did very well and was such a good boy all day. Strangely enough he would not take a treat from our hand, but did enjoy them once dropped on the floor. Sleep well tonight my lovely boy, you've had a busy and exciting day, it was a real pleasure to spend the day with you. Here's hoping that you can soon be in a home of your very own. xx
