Had a lovely telephone call from Ruby's Mom yesterday. She wanted to let us know what a wonderful friend and companion Ruby has been to her over the last nine years and how much she loves her. Ruby is doing well and celebrated her 13th Birthday last month. Her Mom says although they are both getting on in years they still manage a stroll up the road together. :)) Sending them both my cuddle today. Xxx

    I’m Homed

It was great to see Sally officially adopted today. Her new Mom and Dad say she is perfect! :)) We agree! Xxx Norman took Nicol to Pets at Home in Stratford for a roadshow today. He said she was perfect too! Got on with dogs of all shapes and sizes. 🙂 When she came back Norman added some comments to her notes and then returned them to the clipboard on the door. However when we came to look for them later they were no where to be seen. Then remembering who her kennel mate is we searched the kennel and sure enough there was the evidence we needed. Just a few tiny bits of paper on the bed were enough to confirm naughty Nerys had ate it! We then checked on the cameras and watched her grab the sheet and take it to her bed where she enjoyed her snack!! To look at her she appears to be an Angel, looks can be deceiving :))) xxx Sara and Louis came in this afternoon, Louis met Cailin, Sam and Nerys, they all got on great with him. 🙂 Sara sorted all the food and treats in the dog kitchen, it looks so tidy now...there is no stopping her even with a mangy leg and hip. Xxx Torc managed to get the end off his tail bandage again and made his tail bleed! :(( He is such a sweet lad, what he really needs is a home with lots of room to wag his tail safely!! Xx Jayne got to work on cleaning out the Summer House in the sand run this morning, it looks great now...well she did ask if there was anything that needed doing! :)) Thanks so much. Xxx We were a little short on volunteers this afternoon for walking, at one point we thought Gloria and Jayne would be walking them all! Thanks to Sally's Mom and Dad for helping out. Xxx Gave Jet lots of farewell cuddles before going home tonight. His new Mom Is coming for him tomorrow. Be good Jet! Xxx

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

2nd impression Rocky really is a loving affectionate , happy and highly intelligent hound, he just needs to learn a couple of commands, we were told that he is very reactive to bikes and other dogs other than greys. So yesterday we walked a cycle path into Stratford, he walked nicely only stopping to sniff to see who been by. Sod’s law, no bikes, but we did meet a few dogs and a couple of swans at close quarters. Yes he did react to the dogs by barking, getting excited and waging his tail, I found keeping him close and a couple of fingers placed on his head and saying no, not shouting, but with a firm voice, he would go into a calm state, not always but enough times to make me believe that with practice he will learn. One of the swans hissed, his eyes widened, ears went up and being sensible he backed away. Because I use a van with wide doors it’s imperative that a dog must learn to stay inside until I get a lead on, so off up to the barn for a bit of formal training, only 10 minutes in the morning and afternoon, there is a video of some of the afternoon but he had a long day and Michelle filming proved to much of a distraction, however he’s picked stay with respect to the van pretty quickly and again all things considered if someone spends a little time and patience he will learn very quickly. Saturday morning, visit the road show at pets at home and a sniff around the meadow, then back to the kennels, but hoping he can come back to stay with us for a few days next week, Rocky is a super boy and we really want to give him as much help as possible.

I hope your little girl soon starts to feel better when the tablets 'kick in', she is getting the best possible care and I'm sure the vet will get her sorted, she sounds like a bit of a tea leaf bless her, we have got one of those, new boy Douggie will steal anything he can get his paws on, had to remove my specs out of his mouth this afternoon before he ran off with them! Hoping for a speedy recovery for Jato. Take care xxx

So little one had her scan yesterday- there is no definitive answer but the good news is no tumour, spleen, liver, kidneys all are looking good. The only thing that was noticed was her guts seem to be ‘stuck’ together. How the vet explained was they sedated her scanned her at different angles carried her to X-ray and then they rescanned her and everything around her stomach stayed in the same place though out. So she is still a bit of a mystery she is on painkillers antibiotics and two lots of tablets to sooth her tummy. Next stage is to have a look and vets want to be sure that is the right thing. Of course she did eat lots of duvet not to long ago - and colour catcher sheets have to be counted in and out of the wash, and I once found half of hubbys sock hidden in her bed so I am sure this has added if not caused the problems. Thanks for your support and most to Shani. Xxxx

    I’m Homed

It was so quiet today that at one stage I wondered if we had left the front door locked!! The phone didn't ring much either - but that meant that we could get on with lots of the bit & pieces that you never get round to when you're busy. Jo was on the Vet run this morning, it was little Cailin's turn to be neutered today. Plenty of students and volunteers meant the doggies had two lovely walks, and weighing's, grooming and health checks were completed. Nicol made us laugh at breakfast, I had literally just asked one of the students to go in and pick up her empty bowl when the little sweetheart picked the bowl up out of the stand and came to the door with it in her mouth!! She was obviously just trying to help us with the clearing up bless her. I can't believe it is March already, the time is just flying by. And the weekend is upon us again, I am really hoping that some of our resident will be lucky enough to find their forever homes - and to that end I will raise my glass of wine and make my usual wish. Happy weekend everyone - cheers! Angie xx Lots of volunteers
