2019 Daybreaks Diary!

After a rather nippy, frosty start it turned out to be a glorious day - just like Spring. The boys & girls enjoyed two lovely walks without coats, benefitting from the fresh air and lovely sunshine. Long may it continue!! With so many dogs in the kennels it was an "on the go" kind of day. We sent Ruth out on the morning walks - giving her the opportunity to give some "on the job training" to our work placement students. A quiet day for visitors, but the one visit we did have ended up with the beautiful Lucy being reserved! She will have a lovely Greyhound sister to live with. Our new arrivals are all gorgeous and are settling well. It was also lovely to see how much Nerys has blossomed in just a week - she is so much more outgoing now. Thanks for everyone's help today, very much appreciated. We were able to get health checks done, walks, and even a bit of spring cleaning started! We have a roadshow at Melbicks Garden Centre this weekend, and I am sure one or two of our boys & girls will be making an appearance. Hopefully we can get some interest and get some red signs appearing outside some of the kennels! I will raise my usual Friday glass of wine and make my usual Friday wish that forever sofas are on their way for all our residents. To this end I have taken a photo of the lovely Rocky and made it my phone screensaver - well you never know, it seems to have been quite successful so far! I will it on Facebook later and you will see him enjoying kennel life, bless him. Slightly off topic but our Afternoon Tea has proved so popular that we literally have 2 tickets left - I am amazed and so grateful for everyone's support, thank you. Have a great weekend one and all. There is a beautiful ginger and white cat on our street, it drives our boys crazy, just sits there staring at them and generally owning the street, I always think, don't move, don't move, which it usually does cos the boys really want to meet it then. Just one of those things I'm afraid, you just have to hold on tight to a short lead, little monkeys!!!!!

Thanks to Lucy for the fab new photos of Buster, he is a very photogenic lad and also a very happy lad! His tail never stops wagging and when you go into his kennel he instantly rolls onto his back to have his tummy rubbed. :)) Xxx

How lucky for all !! We had a drama one day out walking luckily only I had any damage - broken finger and a bruised bottom!! After we went back to walking with muzzles it seemed to clam them down as everytime we went past they were a bit ‘keen’. Xxx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!

Socks, one of our cats had a trip to the vet this morning. She has been drinking rather a lot recently and despite being on a diet has put more weight on. She is a super girl and even though she had to suffer having some blood taken and a thermometer in her bottom she remained our sweet, fussy girl. We have to try and obtain a urine sample in the next couple of days! Bless her. Xxx Another trip to the vet this afternoon, Lewis and I took Freddie and Buster for vaccinations. They were so good together in the car, jumped in sat down and enjoyed the journey. They were also great at the vets. Buster is the first Greyhound I have taken who has lay on the floor quite relaxed while having his injection! 🙂 On the way out they met a very beautiful female Greyhound and were both smitten! Xxx Many thanks to Alan and Richard for going to the warehouse for us today. However because they didn't take their lovely assistant Lucy with them they forgot the poo bags!! Well they are the Daybreaks Chuckle Brothers! :))) Thanks so much to everyone who helped out today. It was almost like spring, so nice to see the sunshine! The dogs went out for walks this afternoon without their coats on. :)) We have lots of really lovely dogs at the kennels all looking for a special home of their own, please consider giving one of them a seat on your sofa! 🙂 X Xxx

An eventful walk this afternoon. Kuro spotted one of the local cats and decided to give chase. He almost pulled me over but I managed to hold on to the lead. Sprained ankle and wrist for me, mouthful of cat fur for the boy and a rather terrified cat!
