All is going well with this super boy, he's fun and very affectionate. Managed to leave him with his toys for five, ten and then fifteen minutes, all ok. Loving his walks, his meals, his bed and barking at the local cats! Xxx

This beautiful girl arrived back at the kennels today. I am taking her back to the vets on Monday to have hopefully the last dressing removed as her leg has finally healed well. This poor little lass has been through so much. I am now appealing desperately for a home for her. She is golden and can be left, she is clean in the house and does enjoy the company of another dog. If you think you could offer her a home or if not, a foster home please give me a call on 0121 782 7702. Although after tomorrow the kennels are closed over Christmas, I will be taking the calls until the 27th and then Kate and Jo will be available. I am massively grateful to everyone who has taken one of our beautiful greys into their home over the Christmas period. I cannot put into words how thankful I am to you all especially when this time of year can be so busy. Ruth xxxx

I am so pleased that all the hounds have a foster home for Xmas and the chance to have a taste of the future they can have when they get their forever homes. Hopefully this holiday will make that come closer. Also because of all the kind people who have taken them in, the staff and volunteers can spend time with their families and have a well deserved break.Cannot praise you guys enough. Have a wonderful Christmas. xx

Does Lecky have a home for Christmas as she is the only one without a ‘foster’ sign? She is so lovely I would have her myself but we have a cat.

I had the pleasure today to take little Rat to her Christmas foster home. She has a lovely foster mom and foster brother the absolutely gorgeous Moe. When I left they were getting on famously. Little Rat was really enjoying exploring. She was a little star and toileted in the garden and followed big Moe around. She was very interested in the work tops, but when given a sharp no she seemed to listen. She is such a clever and affectionate girl. I think that this home experience will stand her in good stead to get her into a forever home as it did with Kitty last year. Thanks to her foster mom for giving her this opportunity. Jo x

Ok how many failed Christmas fosterers are we going to have this year. Best get a good supply of tee shirts in. Merry Christmas to all the Daybreaks staff and volunteers you are all stars for the work and dedication. Thank you for opening up the world of greyhounds to me. So we've brought this bright and happy lad home for the Christmas and New Year break. Considering he apparently hasn't had to share before, he did really well in the car with our 3. Just a few little grumblings if someone trod on someone else's paw. So fingers and paws crossed it keeps going as well - especially with a 3 hour trip to Devon on Monday!

If circumstances were different I would have them both over for Christmas, but I have to work on the 25th, 26th and new years eve. New years day will not be a good start to the year for me as I will have been made redundant as of 23:59hrs on the 31/12/2018. But i will leave me more time for greyhounds!

Lovely Ratty, here is a message from Kitty: you are a very lucky girl, you are going to have a fab time, Carol is a wonderful mum and Moe a great companion who will let you sit on the sofa. I spent last Christmas with Carol and her family and I had a great time. Please give a big sniff to Moe from me. Love, Kitty xx”
