Really wonderful news for you all We have been thinking of her, wondering how she was getting on I wonder if the Magnatherapy box at Daybreaks would help her Would be worth asking the kennels about it Then maybe a nice pamper session afterwards :)) Wishing you a much happier Xmas than you thought it would be! Hugs to Layla Take care Pam and Alan x x

Really hope Stanley & Gent get a home for a few days over Christmas, it makes me quite sad to think they have to stay at the kennels, if our old grumpy grey Dexter was a bit more sociable we would have gladly taken one, fingers crossed boys xxxxx

My comment for Ruthy seems to have got lost! We also met Ruthy yesterday and she is lovely. Can't believe she is 8, she's very perky. Hope someone wants to take her home soon

It must be Christmas! Huge thanks to everyone who has very kindly left choccies for the volunteers, most kind but unfortunately I seem to be incapable of having just one! Each time I have walked past the tubs & boxes today I have dipped in for "just one more"! I have no will power at all. Today saw the first of our lucky inmates go out for their Christmas holidays - Ruthy first, closely followed by the lovely Rocky. Here's hoping they enjoy an "at home" Christmas bless them. Many thanks for the kind donations of sardines & pilchards today - our boys & girls will be very spoiled in the New Year and will have very shiny coats. A busy weekend ahead as the rest of our inmates leave us for their Christmas holidays - except Stanley & Gent who so far have no offers. They are both such lovely lads and will be very sad to be the only residents at Daybreaks over the festive period! Well, it is of course wine time now - and I would like to raise my glass and wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year. Thank you to everyone who has supported us in any way throughout the year. Angie xx

sooooo yesterday was busy with a trip to the warehouse with 'the chuckle brothers' Richard and Alan as I am not allowed to lift or 'do too much' agghhhhhh! It was good to be back though and I then spent yesterday evening programming all the trackers which have arrived and today I have been allocating them to our current inmates. We have just seen Ruthy off to her new foster home and hopefully all goes well that it works out for her..... and over the next few days we are seeing the rest of the inmates also going out to foster..... except for Gent and Stanley. Sadly we have no offers for this pair so if you do think you could help, please give the kennels a call! 0121 782 7702 - we hope it isn't a lonely Christmas for them!!!!!!

Stanley and I (Spanner) and his other humans want to wish you all a Merry Christmas. Won't be quite the same without our mate but we will remember as we remember all those greys and humans who have passed. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year and hoping 2019 is a good one for all. Love Stan, Spanner, Tim and Sue xxx

More good news from us - Layla has continued to improve. Blood tests show CRP levels back to normal and we have been able to halve the steroid dosage. She’s got to go for more blood tests in the new year, and we hope to be able to tail off the medication after that. She’s eating normally again (ie everything we give her), and has had a couple of short walks. She’s not quite as feisty as she used to be, but is if anything even more loving - she’d have cuddles all day and all night if she could! I was concerned because she’d lost even more weight, but the vet reassured me that muscle atrophy is a side effect of the medication she’s on - and she was always such a stocky little thing, so it’s had quite an impact. I remember Ruth calling her Miss Chunky Thighs when we took her home! I suspect she’ll never be quite as chunky again! Would love to bring her in for a pamper, maybe in the new year. I think she deserves it! Happy Christmas to all! X

Richard and Declan set themselves a hard task this morning...trying to retrieve the lost drain rods that got stuck down the drain on Tuesday! 38 rods later they succeeded!! Bless them. Xxx Great to see chunky boy Hector reserved! :)) Thanks so much to everyone for all their help today. It was a good walking day for a change! Xxx
