Florence was West Forty Six, Daybreaks called her Westy. She was rehomed for a few days and called Pheobe. We called her Florence. She soon learnt it, especially if you use it alot and offer treats! X

What a difference in only a few days! The dog who could barely move a week ago has been trotting around the garden playing with her squeaky ball. She’s got her appetite back, but she’s turned into a fussy madam where food is concerned. Human food good, dog food bad apparently! She’s even gone off pilchards, which I thought was impossible for a greyhound! She’s coming to us for fuss again, after wanting to be left alone before. Not allowed walks yet, but yesterday she heard the word “walk” and went straight to the front door wagging her tail! She’s also started chattering when she’s content or excited - which is something she’s never done before, it’s so cute! Still not quite her old cheeky self but we’re getting there. More blood tests on Wednesday, after which the vet is hoping to reduce the dosage of steroids. So it’s all looking good, fingers crossed!

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Handsome Jetson came to Sheldon Country Park with me today. He jumped in the car easily and settled immediately. He walked very well and accepted fuss from anyone willing to give it. A super hound, who was a pleasure to take out xx

The girl, at 12, is behaving like a six year old. Bouncing up steps and oblivious to growing old gracefully. She has completely recovered from having the tumour removed although there is every likelihood it will return for a third time. She has a wonderful life at the seaside but especially at this time of year we think of old friends. So we are both sending Getting ready for Christmas wags to The Daybreaks family. Daisy remarks “ Already wearing my Christmas snowflake jumper and going to sausage parties - I am much loved and very blessed”.

We Saw Spritz's foster family today. They are so happy with her progress. 🙂 Her leg is looking so much better. :)) They are not able to keep her on a permanent basis so are hoping a lovely home will come her way when the time is right. She is a pleasure to look after and will happily get along with other Greyhounds. If anyone is interested in offering Spritz her forever home please contact the kennels on 0121 782 7802. Xxx

    I’m Homed

It was great to see Jessie reserved today. 🙂 She will have a lovely Greyhound sister! Lecky's injury to her mouth looks good. Hoping it will continue to hold and she won't need anymore treatment. Xx Ruth popped in again today. She is looking better! :)) Thanks to Diane this morning who brought several members of her family with her to walk the dogs this morning and thanks so much to them all for the donations of treats and blankets. Jess had two customers for a pamper today, Seana's Mel and Teddy. Both of them were not too impressed with having a bath! They are so sweet and you can tell they adore each other. Xxx Jayne had the best job of the day...washing out the recycling bins! Angie, she did a great job of it! Xxx We do have two new arrivals tomorrow! 🙂 Xxx

I think jetlucy is right. Most dogs do seem to experience it to a greater or lesser extent. I bought Maggie a soft crate, which really helped settle her down. She loves it and will often leave the room we're in to go and lie in it. It's a good job that we don't offend easily! It has proved really useful though and if we are away from home we take it with us for her to sleep in and she's always carry happy x
