So happy to have Ginger in our lives. She is a loving, sweet girl and is really gaining in confidence. Loves to play in the garden and meeting her greyhound friends and other breeds on her walks.

Josh
Over the Rainbow Bridge
This is an update from Josh's foster family: Joshy has settled in so well. He's eating 3 meals a day; Burns and treats. Drinking well with encouragement. He is such a happy little lad. Tail wagging and my goodness me, when he hears the chink of his lead he shoots up, leaps and bounds like a proper puppy!! Tolerates his muzzle and allows me to put it on and off no bother. He has a little cry when he's left alone, but soon settles himself. We know he's fed, watered and has comforts so it's just 'someone' that he misses at night. He has been good as gold, we have had no problems at all. House clean. Meets other people with a wag and a sniff and walks really well on his lead. We give him lots of space and only fuss when he comes to us. He comes straight over and lies next to us if we sit on the floor. He's such a sweetheart

It’s been a while! I’m sorry! ITS MY BIRTHDAY! Apparently anyway not sure what is means. Humans keep saying I’m 4 years old. It’s only the morning and I’ve been given a new toy, loads of fuss, a birthday bandanna and my morning treat. This is great should happen more often. Apparently I have a birthday muffin and some hand decorated birthday biscuits too later! As well as my birthday I recently celebrated my 2nd Gotcha Day!! That’s gone fast. Can’t wait to see you all soon at Daybreaks’ Birthday! My cousin Florence is coming over soon for Samantha’s birthday so we will be able to go together!!! Lubs Monty Xx

Thanks so much to Rob for his enthusiasm to arrange more road shows and wanting to help find homes for our beautiful Greyhounds! Xxx It's been a very warm and busy week...starting with Peggy being homed and Gabby going out on trial. Josh went back out on Foster, he really was unhappy at the kennels. Xxx Sweet Gypsy found herself reserved and will be going home next week. Her soon to be new family came to visit her today and took her for a walk. Xxx Little Truf Truf was fostered and is having a wonderful time with her foster family. :)) Xxx Roxy came in for her post homing health check. She looked great and is a very happy girl. Xxx Wilma also came in for her post homing health check, still the little pocket rocket we had at the kennels! :)) Our latest new arrivals came in on Thursday, the very handsome Bobby and Simba. Xx Richard and Alan...also known as the chuckle brothers made two trips to collect some furniture for us. It was an incredibly hot day and they needed a nice cup of tea and a donut to revive them on their return to the kennels! Thank you! Xxx Thanks so very much to everyone for all your help, and support. We have missed quite a few of our Daybreaks family the last few days...Ruth has been away and Declan was unable to come in Xxx Big hugs to Vonnie and Jo, please get better soon. Hello ladies, gents, boys, girls and woofs... Last weeks roadshow was a huge success and I am now in the process of finding other places/venues to go to. I have already got in touch with a few just waiting to hear back from them soon. But, if anyone has any ideas of places or venues we could go to do a roadshow please let me know...!! Daybreaks Diary!

Oh my gosh it was a hot one today! I felt like a damp rag when I had finished feeding & cleaning this morning!! It was the gorgeous Magic’s birthday today, and he shared frozen treats with his doggy pals to celebrate. As it was so hot, the residents took it in turns to come out into the feeding runs for some fresh air and paddling pool playtime. It was so funny to see all the different reactions to the pool - some wouldn’t go near it, some thought it was a giant drinking bowl - and the beautiful Gal got it sussed and decided to lie down in the water! I have taken a photo and Michael will post it on FB later - it is sooo cute! We had a delivery from Iceland courtesy of Phil today with fabulous treats for both hounds & humans together with lots of cleaning products - thank you! Also thanks for the donations of towels & bedding, greatly appreciated. A reminder that raffle tickets for our 17th Birthday Prize draw are on sale at the kennels, the draw takes place at our open day on Sunday 2nd July. If you can’t get in to the kennels don’t panic- give us a call on 0121 782 7702 and we will happily sell you some tickets over the phone. The 1st prize is £250 cash very generously donated by Fivelands Veterinary Centre. The weekend is here, and a bottle of white wine is chilling in the fridge for me for later! Josh
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Josh has been a foster dog after being returned to our care in July 2022 with a history of unexplained and quite severe aggression. I asked Erik, one of our expert volunteers, who has recently become a provisional clinical animal behaviourist, to foster Josh to assess and work with his behaviour which he has successfully done until the 21st of May. However following an incident between Caesar (another of our foster dogs who’s mouth tumour is increasing possibly affecting his temperament) and Josh, I felt it best he came back to Daybreaks for not just Josh and Caesars sakes but for Erik and his family members. A dog will generally only react aggressively through pain or fear so we have had him investigated extensively. He showed signs of neurological deficit along with pain so following numerous trips and tests at Fivelands, Willows and other vets he was started on pain relief, and treated by a chiropractor. He has come a long way with veterinary support and the unwavering daily behavioural treatment and guidance put in by Erik and his family over the last 10 months. Initially Josh was incredibly unhappy on his return to Daybreaks but responded well to certain volunteers and then Hannah stepped in to offer him some respite. Hannah will update seperately but I want to thank everyone who donates to Daybreaks as this means financially we can proceed with extensive tests and treatments to be able to help not only Josh, but all greyhounds within our care. Truf Truf

Our gorgeous little Truf went out on Foster earlier in the week. She has been in the kennels so long...one of our Volunteers offered to give her a break from kennel life and took her home for a while. She is doing great and being such a good girl. :)) Xxx

Hi Lilly, Fox came with me to the Morrisons roadshow at the weekend. He was a super super good lad. He was the star of the day and well behaved. He wasn't moving around too much but was happy to walk around calmly and was happy to either stand their with a volunteer, sit down or lie down. Hope this info helps!
