I was waiting for the announcement.... the train leaving from Platform 4..... ok - yesterday felt like New Street Station - it was SO busy!!!! Great day though - I thrive on busy! Andy and his Dad spent the whole day putting the roof on the cat extension so hopefully by next weekend it will be finished and Tyke and Socks can enjoy their extended outside area 🙂 Thank you to everyone who came and helped or visited - it is really appreciated x

Nick

The handsome Nick came for a day out today with me, Maggie (my greyhound) and my husband. He was out of his kennel and in the car like a rocket. There is no doubt that he has a zest for life. We drove out to Packwood House and spent the next hour walking through fields and along country roads/ canals. He is a very keen walker and can be quite strong, especially when he sees another dog, particularly the small ones. However, when he actually meets the other dog, he behaves well. I thought I might have been in trouble when we saw two very small dogs as he started off like he was coming out of the traps at the racetrack. Once we caught up with them though he lost interest after having a bit of a look. We stopped at a pub for lunch and enjoyed an hour in the sunshine. He had a bit of a sunbathe but was ready to get started again in no time at all. We had another hours walk and then a trip back to Daybreaks. He's a lovely boy, who is very people friendly. He is super happy to be out exploring and will be great for someone who enjoys long walks. I might suggest starting the walk going uphill (believe me, he'll help you get up to the top) and then enjoy a more leisurely walk with him once he has worn himself out a bit!! I am sure Teddy would be thrilled to have a home waiting for him and it would speed his recovery I am sure. Maybe this lovely sunny Sunday will encourage people to come and see him and all the big beautiful Black Boys who have waited patiently for a forever home while the pretty girls pass by so quickly. I have nothing against them, but the boys have stolen my heart since I had my first lad, Boy or girl it doesn't really matter as long as you find the one for you (or as usually happens, they find you) like Fat neck Finn did with us ! Just look what we would have missed if Ruth hadn't plead his case as the longest stayer. lol

2019 Daybreaks Diary!

It was great to see Lady reserved today. 🙂 She is a very sweet girl. A lovely day for walking. Thanks to everyone who came in to take the dogs out in the sunshine. Thanks so much to Jembob for taking Jet for a trip to the park. 🙂 Teddy spent the day in the kitchen again. He was such a good boy and loved all the extra attention. We took the dressing off his paw this morning as he unfortunately managed to wee on it! His stitches look ok. He has an apppointment at the vets on Monday morning to see if he can have the stitches removed. Fingers crossed. Xxx It was lovely to see Billy and Sam this afternoon. They had come for a pamper with Jess. Sam's back legs were shaking as he had his nails clipped! Poor lad. They both looked great when their "torture" was over! :)) We also had a visit from Kitty and her family. They had popped in for food on their way to go and help out at Melbicks. I understand they were going to pick Moe and his Mom up too....do hope all went well and everyone enjoyed telling visitors to Melbicks how wonderful Greyhounds are! :)) Ruth and Lisa spent several hours today going through all the car boot donations. I came away with yet another book on Greyhounds! :)) Thank you to everyone who has brought items in for us to sell and raise money for the dogs over the last few months. Xx Thanks so much to everyone for your help today. Xx Xxx

Jet

Me and Jet snuck off to the park this afternoon. Walking along the pavement of the A45 can’t be easy for a retired hound but once in the park he really enjoyed exploring the bushes and letting other dogs know that he was about. Jet is a strong boy and needs a little guidance on how to take a human for a walk but once back at hq you can see that he will become a wonderful companion to whoever adaopts him. I sat on his bed with him and he rolled onto his back with his head in my lap as if to say thank you for the visit to the park. Jet is a real character.
