Well mom managed her disappearing act again last Sunday. Went for a walk with TC and on arrival home no mom. I checked the house two or three times even the cupboards and under the bed! For two days I checked all the cars I saw and stared out of windows to no avail and then - she reappears again! Seems she went to the lumpy bit of land come half built bungalow come almost finished bungalow. We now have a date in a couple of weeks time for me to start finding Welsh squirrels! Lubs to all Florence xxx

Hi Zetas Mum has asked me to post the information below on here. Can anyone with any advice please drop her a email? Her name is Linda. Thank you. My greyhound has had inflammation of the large and small intestines. Tests on bloods and stools have all come back clear, so the vet’s explanation is food intolerance. The vet has put her on Purina pro Hypoallergenic plan vet, which is small kibbles and expensive, but more important she will not eat it on its own, so I am having to put some bits of lamb and sweet potato in it. The vet said if she won’t eat the food on its own, the only option is to keep her on steroids permanently, which can damage her liver and kidney over time. I know it’s common in greyhounds to have sensitive digestive system, so there is probably people out there who have been where I am now that could give me advice on what food they switched to that their dog ate with some interest and enjoyment without having to add meat, which is defeating the object of no protein in the diet. She is having monthly B12 injections at the moment too. Could you please send your experiences and advice to me ASAP Feel free to email me on coleman_linda@hotmail.co.uk

Well Mags has had quite an introduction to her new life, two weeks ago she, Fee and I went to a farm in Bath as I do Tellington TTouch and was assisting on a training course. Mags sees our car as her safe place so was happy to stay in it and watch, she had TTouch on two days and was fine to stand for the person TTouching her as long as she was by the car - which was fine :). To my amazement she then walked up the stairs to our B&B room that night and for the rest of our stay - I'd had to carry her up on the first night.Her confidence continued at the dog show and she even came into the ring, trotted around and let the judge go over her - really chuffed with her progress .. she must feel so much better than being scared of everything 🙁 She's started to play with Fee much to his amazement LOL - she's very bouncy 🙂

About a month ago I noticed Sarah had a nail that was lifting. Ruth had a look and thought it may be a nail bed infection. My vet treated her with 2 courses of antibiotics and anti inflamatories. She was not limping but I noticed when she was lying on the stairs that she had a little hole under her nail. Long story short I took her to Fivelands, she was booked in for x-rays and the result was she actually had a fracture in her toe. The hole was probably where a bit of bone exited. She had part of her toe amputated last Thursday and went back today to have her dressing changed. It is healing extremely well and hopefully the stitches removed. Oh and today was her birthda, and for being such a good girl when coming to work with me, she had a sneaky sausage roll at lunchtime, then the gang all had fish in parsley sauce with their dinner. Happy birthday Scare Bear, 10 years young today. Xxxxxx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!

Well Fat neck Finn has had a set back emotionally.He had great hopes of being in the Daybreaks calendar, and now his hopes have been dashed. All that center fold posing in front of the patio window in Bude and big smiles from passers by has been in vain. He has taken it really badly and his diet has gone to pot! After someone said he had a Rottweiller's body he did make an effort (of sorts) but now he is comfort eating and has low self esteem. Maybe I will have to make his own calendar up and he can be in every month. All proceeds to Daybreakss LOL

2019 Daybreaks Diary!

A lovely bright,warm sunny day, just like summer again. I arrived this morning and unlocked, started letting the dogs out and ooh where is everyone? Started cleaning and feeding and heard the rattle of the gate....volunteers, yay. Thanks to all who came and walked today, very much appreciated. Not many visitors today, although I did see a couple of people who wanted information about greyhounds with an option in the future of fostering or adopting. Nice to be able to have a chat about this wonderful breed and put to rest some of the myths people have about care and excersise. We had healthchecks and weighing to be done, thanks guys for sorting that for me. Gail and Blaise sorted the bedding store again! Please try and keep it tidy! They also moved stuff from the treatment room, it actually looks as it should do now We had piled stuff from the show in there...oops, sorry Take care all. Have a greyt day tomorrow. Xx

Update on Fisher/Roary Received this morning Crying in the night Sam took him into his room he stopped. 5 am he went and pooed in the bathroom (tiled floor nice and easy) Then he swiped the bananas this morning and tried eating them. He is fantastic really gentle. Just taking him out now xx Sam is the youngest son

2019 Daybreaks Diary!

I ache after yesterday!!!! Thanks to Richard and James for helping me empty the van with all the things from the dog show - I then headed to the Swan office to take the rest for storage. I was met there by Lisa who helped me unload, sort and clear and then back to the kennels to load up more. I want to re-iterate Jo's thanks to Richard for all the painting - especially the new kitchen floor which looks fantastic. Also I was over the moon to see Roary had been chosen and met Olive's new owners who adopted one of our original inmates Meg (Tottie as she was so well known!). Olive is being neutered tomorrow and then she will go to her new home next week - how exciting! I then went back to the office as I'm sewing costumes for the show on the 17th November - all but one of the costumes are now finished. By 7pm it was time to head home and chill.... I am so grateful to Jo and all the volunteers for all their help 🙂 xxx

Renamed Fisher and has been as good as gold so far. After being told NO when the family were eating he returned to his bed and watched. He will soon have a little blue sister after her nueturing. He met her today and they got along very well
