Jato is back at the vets ! Only a small offering on the first day back and being a lazy hound why eat your food when a nurse will syringe it in !!! Easy. But seriously she hasn’t eaten enough to keep a mouse going and has lost a kilo in the last week (she won’t miss it a little porky) and Sunday we decided she was dehydrated so back on the fluids,

I had a fab afternoon with Barney. Don't know where mom and TC went but I'm glad Auntie Samantha agreed to look after me. Batney has the most comfortable bed. I'll be coming for more kisses soon! Mom says she agrees with Auntie Kate, Barney needs a friend! Xxx

    I’m Homed

I do hope Roary finds his forever home soon, he has been waiting very patiently for that someone special to notice him and realise he is special too! He and kennel mate Honey "helped" me to make their bed this morning. Roary kept taking the hand broom off me, but I don't think he intended on doing any sweeping with it! :)) He also took the blanket off me and jumped on the bed with it. He and Honey then proceeded to make the bed their own way! It looked erm, sort of comfy!! Xxx

Teddy is still wearing his boot on his poorly paw so we just had a stroll around the sand run this afternoon. He is such a lovely boy. I think when his paw is properly healed and he can go for a 'proper' walk he will find life a bit more interesting. Hopefully that will be fairly soon. He is very uncomplaining. xxxx

I had some fabulous cuddles with this adorable little girl today. I sat on her bed and she stood leaning on me with her head on my shoulder and I had my head on her shoulder. She really is a beautiful, gentle, lovable dog. Whoever adopts her will get themselves one amazing hound. xxxx

    I’m Homed

I have been easing myself in gently and yay - I feel I am almost back after just over 2 weeks of illness. After feeding this morning I said good luck to Beauty as she was being signed up and then I headed up to the office at the Swan to unload the van from the remembrance evening on Saturday - thanks to Angie for helping.... however I've got another van-load tomorrow.... hint hint! Whilst at the office the lovely Neil from Fire Expel came and serviced and certified the fire extinguishers whilst Angie and I created more amazing outfits for our show which is on the 17th November.... we hope you can come - tickets are only £10 and on sale at the kennels. Back at the kennels, Kate and I dismantled the gazebos in the runs and the shed was filled and then I was off to visit Maggie who lives locally and sort her corn! I want to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who helped the Stars Shine Remembrance Evening being a success.... it really was a wonderful very happy evening to celebrate the wonderful souls that have come into our lives - it really was about remembering the happy times. I am so proud of being part of Daybreaks and long may it continue helping greyhounds into homes..... I just hope every single one is loved until they cross the bridge x

Hi peteandjan I am not a vet but a nurse and terminology used is similar so I would say --Hemi means partial, mandible means jaw bone, and lectomy roughly means removal, I guess they will operate to remove part of the jaw which may have the cancer so that it will hopefully clear it. I am sure if it is cancer they will give you lots of more information than I can and they do have a plan so maybe not so bad. Fingers crossed. Hope this helps. x

Me Saffy and Sunny are having a good time in our new home. There are lots of walks but Mam and Dad keep stopping to look at the view they also sit in the garden looking at the view with glasses in their hands. Now I and my mates have sniffed all round the garden and a bit of next door but can find no views nor do I know how many legs they have. I shall keep looking. We do have one problem Saffy may have cancer in her mouth mam and dad were told that a HEMIMANDIBULECTOMY will help does anybody anything about this? So I can tell Saffy and Sunny.

  • Kuro (Brandy)

    I’m Homed

Brandy came with me to Elmdon Park today. He stood patiently to have his lead on but was off like a rocket when I opened the kennel door. Bless him, he couldn't wait to get out. He still doesn't get the concept of jumping in the car, but doesn't mind being manhandled in. Once in, he travelled really well and had no problems jumping out. I took him on a harness today and he was immediately calmer than last week. He is however still quite strong on the lead when he wants to go a certain direction and you do have to be firm with him. We met lots of dogs and his manners were much better. He stood calmly whilst a medium sized dog had a good sniff of him and didn't seem.at all perturbed by the much smaller fluffy standing a metre away from him. There was one dog that he was quite focussed on but after changing direction and then going in for a second attempt to pass the dog, Brandy got the message and walked past calmly. I think he shows a lot of potential Whilst he may be noisy in the kennel, he is not when out and about. He really enjoys his walks and will make someone an excellent companion xx
