Over the Rainbow Bridge
Last night Josh, who is in foster with Erik, had to be admitted as an emergency to the vets - he unfortunately cut open all of the top of his leg. He was kept in overnight at 608 and I went with Erik first thing this morning to collect him. Poor boy is very sad and we are now faced with a vet bill of £1,062.22! It is with great sadness that I had the news that Horse passed away earlier this month. He had a brain tumour. He was a wonderful boy.... our thoughts are with his lovely family xxxx Run free fella x

Daybreaks Diary!

What started off as a quiet day ended up with seeing our lovely Cristina going home! :)) Xxx Hoping she is being a good girl. Xxx Thanks to all our wonderful volunteers for all their help today. All of our residents had moring and afternoon walks. They all had a nice groom and teeth cleaned. This afternoon they had time out in the runs with toys and licki mats. Xxx Prince's nose looks a little better today. He has been given some cream from his trip to the vet yesterday. Poor lad, he really does look so sad as does his companion Bocko. Just have to keep giving them both lots of hugs. Xxxxx I am really grateful to Leni and her Mum for feeding everyone this afternoon whilst I did Christina's homing. :)) So kind of you. I was a little late feeding our lovely cats Socks and Tyke. Think they forgave me! :)) Xxx Those of you who know our Bob sure you would like to know he is feeling much better and looks great! Xxx

Minnie finished her training course last night and is now the proud owner of a lovely certificate - well done beautiful. xx She has come so far in just a few short weeks and, to build on that, we have signed up for the next level course during which Clare has said she will present us with some challenges - eek!! It is a great experience for her though, and we have all learned a lot. x

Daybreaks Diary!

It's a full house at Daybreaks - so many lovely boys and girls just waiting for their chance. Such a shame to see the recent returnees - it is always sad when things don't work out for whatever reason. I have gone a bit "part time" at the kennels now - a case of old age & infirmary catching up on me!!! I damaged some discs in my neck when I was young and sadly the wear and tear of life means I now can't spend as much time on my feet as I used to so am having to limit myself to mornings only now. On the plus side it does give me more time to help out on the Admin side and to sort out fundraising events. There are a couple of events scheduled for September, and an online quiz coming up in October, so keep an eye on the Events section here or on our Facebook page, as details are confirmed. With Summer holidays here, things are very quiet at the kennels both visitor wise and volunteer wise - but a viewing appointment was made this morning so keep everything crossed! Stay safe and well everyone - and lets hope for some red or green signs outside some kennels by Monday morning. Cheers! Angie

If Diva is like her sister, she'll make a wonderful pet. Hope housetrained very quickly ,is very sociable, loves attention.. They share the same white socks! If Diva's new owners would like to keep in touch, that would be great! Greyhound history have updated my girl on Greyhound data with a photo.

Hope is sending Diva a sisterly birthday cuddle ready for tomorrow! Hope was concerned she wouldn't get time tomorrow as she is out with friends on a sighthound walk! Your other siblings are in the UK but haven't retired yet, Hope remembers all the fun times you had as pups together, and apologizes for being the bossy one! ????

Daybreaks Diary!

Apologies for no Daybreaks diary updates since Kate's update on Tuesday! Monday and Tuesday were pretty hectic and with Jo off this week on annual leave and poor Kate at a funeral yesterday, I have been covering the kennels and it has been a little mad! I welcomed back Ray, one of our volunteers who moved to Spain 10 years ago! I can't believe where time goes but he is spending some time over here and has slotted straight back in and it is fantastic to have him back! Poor Josh was returned but he really does seem to have issues with something so he has gone out to foster to be assessed and we are hoping to get him checked by a chiropractor first. Bocko and Prince who were returned earlier in the week due to a relationship breakdown, have been quite sad at being back. Prince is off to the vets later this afternoon to have his nose looked at as it is very red and lumpy around the edges. It has warmed up again this afternoon so we have all the paddling pools out and I quite fancy dipping my toes myself! Being short on volunteers I have actually been out on several walks. For those of you who know Bob who owns the kennels, he was rushed into hospital last week with a heart attack. He has now been discharged and doing well. Hence with all that has been happening, my stress levels have been a little high.... a big sloppy kiss from Mikey just puts a smile back on my face! 🙂
