Very sadly due to a change of personal circumstances for the couple who adopted them, Bocko and Prince have been returned to the kennels today. The couple are devastated to have had to make this decision. Bocko is good on the lead, house trained and gets on well with other dogs. Both boys are adorable. We are very sad for all concerned. Xxx

Thanks to everyone for their help today. It was a little cooler so all the inmates had both morning and afternoon walks. It did get a little warmer as the day went on but the dogs were kept cool. We have a few real characters in at the moment, they are really cheeky and make us smile. Zavi and Tommy trying to pull items though the feeding run bars, Con with his 'I'm not coming out of my Kennel without a belly rub'. Hoping to see some red and green signs this week, especially for Cristina. Xx

  • Monty (Chase)

    I’m Homed

We have had Monty over 12 months now and the change from being a scared of the big world and other dogs to if you are going out I am coming with you. He does suffer from separation anxiety a little thing we have learned to accept and lucky to be able to work around. He loves plenty of love and fuss and gives a lot back in return. He loves his time at the caravan and has his favourite stopping off places in Burnham on sea. Can’t get past the pet shop for his treat from the girls behind the counter and his doggy ice cream from the sea front. We all love him and he loves us. So happy that he decided to stay with us after the loss of beloved Russ. Life does work in mysterious ways.

I was greeted by a very happy Minnie when I arrived this morning. :)). She was supervising feeding and cleaning by her lovley Mum and Dad, Angie and Michael. Xxx It was a much cooler day and the dogs enjoyed morning and afternoon walks. New arrival Cassie was very excited to go out and explore her new surroundings :)) Zavi enjoyed a trip to the park with Kitty and her family. We had several customers for nail clipping including Bobby and his brother Alfie and the very handsome Jag. Xxx Thanks so much to everyone who helped out at the kennels today. Thank you Caroline for coming in this afternoon to help with feeding. Xxx

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Hi, I’m Grace’s dad. Grace passed away last Monday (the 11th of July 2022) after a very brave near 9 month battle with cancer. Needless to say my wife and I are still devastated and miss her so much. When we brought Grace home she was unsure of the world around her and of other dogs, but she grew into the most sweet, gentle, kind, protective and loving girl. Everywhere she went she was admired and to say it was an honour to be her dad and mom would be a massive understatement. I don’t think we will ever get over loosing her, but the 6 years that we got to share with her were filled with lots of walks, lots of fuss and many, many treats! She was a super happy girl and a great sister to Monty (our first boy) and Peppie our current boy.

    I’m Homed

Our gorgeous Minnie Moose is doing so well. She is really enjoying her training with her pals Cracker, Padfoot and Woody and is making great progress. Still a nervy girl, her confidence is building and she is handling situations so much better now. These beautiful hounds deserve our time and patience to help them adjust at their own pace to the big, wide, scary world and become happy with themselves and their place in the world. xx

Well done Zavi, you have a really cheeky side at the Kennels. So heartwarming to hear that you behaved so very well on your outing today. What a well behaved boy you were. You definitely need a home with a sense of humor and the time to give you all the attention you need and deserve. You certainly make us smile every day. Xx

    I’m Homed

Took the happy boy Zavi to Brueton Park today. He got into the car nicely but wasn’t too sure of it and wanted to look at every passing car. He was very excited when we got to the park and was zig-zagging to try and take in as many smells as possible. At the start he was eager to get people’s attention and to go up to other dogs but as the walk progressed he was happy to walk by my side and wasn’t even giving the other dogs a glance. He came face to face with a smaller dog and was very gentle and his tail never stopped wagging. I’m so proud of his behaviour in the park- you could definitely see improvement as he became more comfortable and relaxed with his surrounding. We look forward to taking him out again xx

    I’m Homed

Took the lovely Christina out to Bruton Park. She happily got into the car and settled nicely and was excited to reach the park. Initially, she was eager to play with other dogs that reacted to her but throughout the walk became more settled and walked past the other dogs as if they weren’t there. Christina was happy to meet other people and walked well on a loose lead. After the park, we ventured into the town centre, which was busier. Again she took everything in her stride and seemed quite comfortable. We took her into a few shops and she wasn’t too keen on stairs but absolutely loved the lift in mountain warehouse. She was fascinated by the mirrors and overall enjoyed all these new experiences. Such a shame that she keeps getting overlooked because of her grey face- I can assure you that she has plenty of energy and love to give. We look forward to taking her out again xx

    I’m Homed

Thanks to Angie for opening up as usual on a Friday..Ruth was in and had to run some errands. Great to have Chris back from her holiday and Matthew for his help too. We had another new arrival today, the lovely Diva, another young girl. She came in from my Peanut and Coopers trainer, she remembered him and got lots of cuddles. As we were so short of volunteers the dogs had sand run fun as it was much cooler. Mikey went out with Liz and unsurprisingly got a glowing report. Kitty, her mom and sister took Cristina to Solihull this afternoon, she too has experienced the lift in Mountain Warehouse!! She came back to Kennels, had her dinner and crashed out, bless her she will sleep well tonight!! Hoping that the next few days will bring more red and Green signs for our inmates. Xx

    I’m Homed

Mikey came with me to Elmdon Park today. Unsurprisingly he walked really well and remained unfazed by other dogs in the park, even the little ones that ran at him yapping. His coat is so glossy and he is such a handsome boy. I was a bit worried he wouldn't remember me from the last time he was in the kennels, but I got a thorough licking from him and a good lean. He is such a happy boy xx

    I’m Homed

Cristina didn't seem too bothered by the hot weather, she took it all in her stride. :)) She also liked playing with the toys, her favourite was the woolly doll, although she was rather heavy after soaking in the pool for some time and was not that easy to throw around! Xxx
