Teddy (Tommy)

Tommy had a great time fishing the toys out of the paddling pool and throwing them around....then He decided to have a wee in the pool! :)) We did change the water before the next resident came out to use it! :)) Xxx

Mikey didn't seem too bothered with the heat today, he enjoyed coming out of his kennel, throwing a few toys around and sitting by the pool. :)) He had a nice cuddle this afternoon from a lady who had dropped some bedding off for us. 🙂 Xxx

Incredibly hot again today! Sadly the residents had to spend a lot of time in their kennels but they were quite cool, we had the fans on and doors and windows closed. They came out several times for a break thorough out the day. Paddling pools out again. :)) Thanks so much to Vonnie and Louisa who came and sizzled at the kennels. I am so grateful for all your help. Vonnie looked very glamorous with a wet tea towel draped around her neck! It certainly helped her to cool down. :)) The dogs wore wet pillow cases...which also worked a treat! :)) One more hot day and then hopefully it will be much cooler... Xxx Hope everyone is managing to keep yourselves and your dogs comfortable and cool. Xxx

We received a call this morning from Frosty's Dad to say very sadly they had to let her go on the 30/06/22. He said she will be missed terribly and loved always. Xxx She was adopted in November 2012. We are so grateful to her family for giving her such a wonderful happy life and loving home. xxx Thinking of you all at this sad time. Kate Xxx

Too hot today, no walks but grooming, teeth cleaning and paddling (or in some cases piddling pools). The inmates all came in rotation. It was fairly quiet for visitors, just several nail clippings and the very lovely Lola's homing. She is such a lovely sweet girl and has gone to a home with the handsome Harry who Kennels Dave fostered for a while. Pleased to see the update on how they are getting on. We also had a lovely delivery via Iceland of dog food, treats, and crisps and cans of pop from Phil, Rio and Ella's dad, thanks so very much. X Many thanks to everyone for their help today, especially with the extreme heat. Xx

Timmy
I’m Homed
Yes Ruth and I did take Timmy to his (hopefully new home) for a trail. Tilly and Timmy quickly started where they left off since they last met. Enjoying the garden and each other’s company. Fingers crossed all goes well for him. Timmy has been with us for 4 months, it is a bit of a sad day for our family now that he has possibly landed his forever home. It is of course brilliant for Timmy. I remember when I drove Timmy home for the first time, OMG, what a smelly bottom he had, doing stress farts in the car. They were soooo stinky and I was glad when I arrived home and out of the car. His walks were very chaotic, moving from left to right, in front of me then behind me and pulling so badly. He was so anxious that he would not take my Michelin star dog treats of me during the walk. I first needed to let him destress before I could do any work with him. One thing that was clear from the start he is SOOOO loving and wants to be loved. I have worked hard with him, giving him structure and guidance. We worked on a number of obedience skills, such as walking to heel, stopping at curb, stay when I open door, wait when I give him food. We also played games such as touch, chase, find. He has come such a long way. He is still nervous on the road but it is so much better now. I called Timmy a special needs boy and in away he still is. He was only 26.5kg when he arrived and he would wee frequently in the house. He had a vet check-up but all came back clean. He has now learned where to wee and how to ask to go for a wee. We had to try and find the right food for him, this was trail and error but I think we found it and he has gained weight and looking more healthy now. Timmy remains a very sensitive boy and he is still scared. If I open the lid of the bin he cowers away from it. Loud noises, he does not like and can spook him badly. That is just who Timmy is and from an assessment I did it is likely to be part of his nature. I am so proud of Timmy, he has come such a long way and really come out of his shell. He loves playing with the toys we have. He has found the confidence to invite (through play bow) my other two boys to play. This can get loud and boisterous at times. He is happy to play on his own inside and outside. He loves meeting people he wags so enthusiastically his whole body moves. He can get a bit over excited and start to nibble your arm or hand or even hold your hand in his mouth. Timmy, it has been a privilege to have worked with you and I really hope this is going to work for you. You done so well from where you were and the occasional hick-up. We will all miss you. Although I am sure that Irina will enjoy not having a good morning lick from you at 04.00 or 05.00 in the morning. Enjoy your potential forever home you have such a lovely mum, home and huge garden to play in.

Please keep everything crossed for Timmy..... Erik who has been fostering Timmy came with me to meet the lovely Hillary who adopted Tilly as she was after another companion. He had such a wonderful time exploring the big garden, dipping his feet in the pond and then went out with the dog walker. You could see the happiness in him. Tilly also has turned from the nervous girl into a very happy and confident lass and loved having a playmate. He has gone out on trial and if all goes well, he has found himself his retirement home! I will keep you posted x
