Whhhooaaa! I’ve just sat down! Such a busy day. When I opened up this morning I found a very stressed Josh who had chewed his way out of the ‘back kitchen lounge’. He has been sleeping there as he was so stressed in a kennel. Then Chloe was off to the vets for her Spey. Back to the kennels and we took the chickens to the end of the run for a day of grass pecking! Next, a clip and a corn removal. I then had a college visit from the student coordinator, another nail clip then gorgeous nervous Max was returned. He has been constantly toileting in the house since his adoption despite trying everything but he clearly wasn’t happy- but was to be be back! A homing has to be right for both dog and family and the owner did the right thing returning him. In turn Barney found himself off to a new home and so far, reports are that he has settled nicely yay. The phone was pretty much non stop, we had several donations of bedding and my inbox of emails decreased a small amount but more importantly all the residents have had a good day! Rosie fetched Chloe from the vets and she came home with me tonight. After setting her in and feeding with Tiggy Momma and Tony, I was off to rehearsals for the short show we are performing at the jubilee afternoon tea. I am as always very grateful to all our volunteers who help make the place ‘tick’. Most of you will know Bob who owns Daybreaks. He celebrated his 95th birthday last week and also had an emergency admission to hospital. He is back home now and on the mend. I am grateful to everyone who has rallied around to help during this stressful time. Wine time now!

Dougie

Dougie met two other breed dogs from a distance of about three feet today. He was interested but didnt react in any bad way. I think the more he meets other dogs the more he will realise they're not that different. Hes a lovely boy. Cuddles for him tonight xxx

The reason I never volunteered to foster was because I thought I'd be rubbish at it. It turns out I was right. We are adopting Andy! What can I say when he came to stay I repeatedly said he wasn't stopping it was temporary but I totally fell in love with him. He is such a mommies boy. He is my shadow, we have supported him in learning to live in a home and he has slotted right into ours. When he came back from the vets Spirit and Star were more happy to see him than me so how could I possibly let him go somewhere else? I've never even thought of having another dog. I knew when I had Spirit I wanted him to have company but we were great as we were but now we are amazing with Andy xx

Dougie came with me to Elmdon Park today. He was very pleased to be going out and happily trotted along. Once we got to the park we saw quite a few dogs. He is a bit too interested in them at the moment and will need to get used to seeing different breeds out and about. He is a very handsome boy though and with his overshot jaw, you can't help but find him adorable. Hoping he finds his sofa soon x

I walked chloe twice today what a treat. She was very well behaved let me lead her up with great ease. I love her fluffy neck so lovely for cuddles which she loves. So well behaved on walks. So pretty too. Make a perfect pet and so deserves her forever home. I'm sure anyone that sees her will love her.

Daybreaks Diary!

It was a very overcast start to the day, but by this afternoon we had glorious sunshine. Thanks to everyone for their help today, dogs that could go on a walk had morning and afternoon walks. Thanks to Liz for taking the gorgeous Dougie to the park. He was very interested in the other dogs so really needs socialising with other breeds. We had no viewings, but had several visitors to collect food and use the sand run. Many thanks for the very generous donations, our donation trolley is full of all sorts of goodies. Our cats and chickens have asked me to send an appeal out for newspapers, they are running out and I think they are fed up with reading the same thing day after day!! The inmates were all tucked up and relaxed when we left. If you are interested in any of our fantastic hounds and would like more information or would like to pay us a visit please call the Kennels.

Josh has been quite unsettled since coming back to the kennels. He spent the day sitting with my Skip and Lyra. He is a very loving, affectionate lad just looking for the right home. Xxx

Minky (Misty)

Misty has been renamed Minky. She has been with us just over a week & we couldn't have been blessed with a better companion for 13 year old Sid. Minky has settled into our life & routine very quickly. Lovely affectionate girl who is happy just to be with you. Loved the beach & seaside, walks well, friendly with dogs & meets new experiences head on! Thank you Kate for making this happen & making our family complete again x

I would like to respond to the Wednesday walkers....clocks don't leap off walls (Peanut hasn't been the same since)!!! Plastic strips by the block door don't fall off on their own free will and your efforts to tip me over the edge are working!!! I have formally requested that my working Wednesday is changed for a more normal less strange day. See you all on Wednesday. Lol xxx
