    I’m Homed

We are heartbroken to say that on the evening of Wednesday 9th March we had to make the heartbreaking decision to allow the vet to lay Ruby to rest. She was 13 years and 9mths old and her health over the past 10 days had taken a sudden and unexpected turn for the worse. There was nothing more medically that could be done. We know she is now happy and pain free now which was always our focus. But as you will all understand we feel our heart has been absolutely ripped out of us.

Rosie was returned to the kennels first thing this morning. It was very sad for all concerned. She is a very sweet girl and I am sure she will soon find another home. Xxx Many thanks to Alan and Declan for going to the warehouse for us this afternoon. Xxx Shirley gave the treatment room a good clean and and Richard worked on the rotten wood in the front door. :)) Rosie came in this afternoon and completed homing packs for all the dogs. 🙂 Xxx Thanks to everyone for all their help today. Xxx It has been a hard week with Alfie, Winny and Rosie coming back to the kennels. If you are interested in offering any of our beautiful boys and girls a home please give us a call and come and meet them. :)) Xxx

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Two ladies dropped some bedding off for us this morning and during our conversation they mentioned a lovely older lad who they see regularly walking with his owner....his name is Nuggett. Turns out he is our very own lad who was homed many years ago and is now 14 years old! I am so happy to hear about him. I will never forget the day Ruth and I visited him and his family to help with some training. Whilst we were admiring their garden Nuggett was raiding Ruth's bag...we turned around to see him and a string of dried sausages dissappearing up the stairs! :)) A truly lovely lad and a fantastic character. Xxx

Very sadly Rosie has been returned today. Unfortunately she wasn't doing too well with the youngest member of the family and we all decided it was best for her to come back to Daybreaks. Her family are distraught and say she is a wonderful girl who walks well on the lead and is great with other dogs. She is houstrained and can be left on her own. They feel she would be happier in a home without young children. Xxx

This morning started out bright and sunny, it almost seemed tropical (ok not quite but you can hope)!! This afternoon was a different story, we felt like we went back to the ice age. Many thanks to the Wednesday walkers and our volunteers. The dogs all had morning walks, as we were short of people this afternoon the inmates that could go had fun in the sand run. The ones that couldn't had a lovely groom in the feeding runs. I left tonight with the dogs all tucked up with their heating on and their fleecey coats on. As always stay safe, warm and well.

We said goodbye Ivern today. He woke up at 6:30am this morning stood up and went into a seizure which he didn't come out of. We took him to the vets and they tried everything they could, but a suspected inflamed lesion in the brain had left him in constant muscle tension and unable to recognise his surroundings (which was a blessing). A big lad, who always wanted affection, you leave a very big empty space. xxx

We have just been out to fetch Winny from a home where she has been for three years due to her owner being unable to look after her anymore.
