Kuro (Brandy)
I’m Homed
Hi, yes I remember you, we were planning to view Brandy as he was then but we adopted Douggie from somewhere else instead. I remember feeling really guilty then he was adopted by yourselves so I felt it was meant to be. So glad to hear that he is well and enjoying life, love to you all xxxx

Again the promised rain did not appear (apart from a couple of showers) until after we left the kennels. Thanks to Denise, Dave and Alison for their help today and to Liz_Beth for taking Phoenix for an outing to the park. Ruth was kept busy with sorting the Honest Box, nail clipping, corn clinic, teeth scraping and crusty paw pad trimming!! We had visitors to use the sand run, but sadly no viewings today :(( Lorna had lots of pamper sessions to do today, all victims..oops sorry clients looked and smelled lovely afterwards. Not too sure they have the same enthusiasm or appreciation for a pamper as we do!! Another week upon us, so in the immortal words of Angie, stay safe, well and distanced, now me thinks it's wine o'clock!

A year already, where has the time gone. I remember Simon telling me on the Friday to make sure she wasn't still there on the Sunday when you were coming in to volunteer. Well, she wasn't as you took her home the day before!!! Happy gotcha day Nadie the Maddie. X

It's Nadie's first gotcha day. She's a little monkey but so sweet. She's completed my family. For those who don't know the story we were content with our 2 boys and kept saying we couldn't have a 3rd. Well, Simon was volunteering and this teeny pretty girl came in who was related to our Sam. He sent me a photo, I made an appointment to see her the next morning and the rest is history. We took her home that morning. She, as do her brothers, makes us smile every day. Love you loads my darling. Happy first gotcha day. x

Caesar
I’m a Sponsor Dog
I am absolutely overwhelmed with the support Caesar is getting with donations to fund his cancer treatment. To everyone who has donated, you truly are wonderful caring people in helping to give this young boy a chance. Once he has been through his treatment we will be available for adoption - he is a wonderful happy boy. Thank you everyone - Ruth x

The forecast for today was for a very rainy day but as usual they got it wrong! It was dry for most of the day and warm. 🙂 The dogs enjoyed their walks and so did our walkers. Xxx It was a quiet day for visitors, Ruth took advantage of the extra time and showed two of our younger volunteers how to teach the dogs some recall. Topsy and Phoenix especially loved the extra attention. Hope it won't be long before they both find their forever homes. Keep your fingers crossed for Phoenix...he has a viewing on Monday. :)) Xxx Thanks so much to everyone who bought an item on the Birthday Auction and called to pay! Xxx A big thank you to Ruth for sorting out a corn on Skips paw. He has never had one before and he hates having his feet touched. :)) Xxx Thanks so much to everyone who helped out today. Xxx

Roxie
Over the Rainbow Bridge
I picked up the gorgeous little Roxie from the vets yesterday afternoon following her Spey and she stopped the night at our house. She is a little nervy but so sweet. Back at the kennels this morning she settled quickly back into her kennel. She is beautiful x

What a beautiful new photo of Roxie. Only got to spend a very short time with this sweetie yesterday before she was whisked off to the Vet, but she looks to be a very happy girlie in her picture. xx

Caesar
I’m a Sponsor Dog
I am keeping everything crossed for this boy, it's great news that he can proceed with the treatment, it's so very expensive and as you say a fantastic amount of money has been raised so far, wouldn't it be the best if the majority of the money could be raised to help this wonderful hound. Caesar, I am not religious but I'm praying for you to make a full recovery. Wishing you all the luck in the world xxxxxx

Caesar
I’m a Sponsor Dog
Caesar has had his first consultation last Thursday. The consultant was positive about his chances and that is may not be the aggressive version. Yesterday we got the results of the initial tests and we are so pleased to hear that there is no spread and he has the all clear to start the treatment. It looks like that the whole treatment as it stands now, is about 4K. He will need three treatment session. sofar the funds raised is £1570.- thank you so much for all of you who have donated. I think the journey was stressful for him as he did not have a proper meal till about 16.00. He had as I call the a very liquid stress poo. We love the boy to bits as he is a good naughty boy and the best result will be that he can be re-homed into his forever home, because he has the all clear. Fingers crossed that this will all come true for him.

Barney
I’m Homed
Barney spend the day at the kennels on Thursday. I understand he missed Caesar during the day. He also showed Kate that you need to keep your wits about you with him as he is clever and uses any opportunity he is given. He ate a bag somewhere I am still interrogating him but not telling me much. He was ill at the kennels and brought up the bag, at home he was also sick but all is well again. So they experienced, as like to call him, the good naughty boy 🙂

Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
Jo was on the Vet run this morning, taking sweet little Roxie to be neutered. She is recuperating overnight tonight with Ruth & her gang. It was a quiet day, which was fortunate as I had to disappear for a portion of it to collect my car which had spent a couple of days in the garage being repaired. I reluctantly returned their awesome courtesy car and, an arm and a leg later, was back at the kennels in time for afternoon walks. The weather was good today, we had a lovely long walk this morning with our few residents, and a lovely amble down the shady lane this afternoon before the sun got too strong & hot. There was time for completing health checks, tidying, mopping - and sitting with a glass of pop to recover afterwards!! I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thankyou to everyone who took part in the Daybreaks 15th Birthday Bonanza online auction - we raised the amazing sum of £494. Our boys & girls send woofs & licks to you all too. Michael has contacted all the winners, and the items will be available for collection from the kennels from tomorrow morning - please just give us a call to book your appointment slot. As we still seem on course for the further relaxation of Covid restrictions later this month, plans for the Mike Stewart-Lawrence fundraising concert are now in full swing. Mike & his dog are regular sand run users, and he volunteered the services of his band to help raise vital funds for the kennels. Tickets are now available from the kennels, and check out the Event for more information. The weekend is here once again, and although the diary is fairly empty again, you just never know .... It is a definite chilled white wine sort of evening, so I will raise my glass firstly to our 3 black beauties Leo, Sanka & Phoenix who have been waiting for such a long time for their forever homes, then to Caesar that his test results will provide some positive news, and finally to all our friends and supporters - thankyou for being there. I will finish with my usual cry - stay distanced & stay safe - cheers one and all! Angie xxx
