We've just got Charlie back home as a fully fledged member of the family. We took him for a walk towards the airport flyover before we went so he could toilet. And then we got wet on the way back so had to pop him in for a towel dry, which I think confused him a bit. He stayed lying down in the boot the whole hour drive back. We're glad we gave Charlie the chance to see if he could settle with us as he's a gorgeous boy, very easy to feed, has enjoyed every walk so far and likes his people. He's going on his holibobs with us next month and we're hopefully taking him to our local tomorrow evening - weather dependant! He's still getting up at greyhound kennels time, but 5:30 this morning, so he's getting later. So glad he's now one of the family as he's filled the void left by little Kylie (and Lucy and Ben). Thanks Ruth also for your support when we've needed advice over the years for Lucy and Ben, who weren't even Perry Barr dogs. All the best x

By Faye Ah what a lovely boy Harry is . He just loves pottering outside while we are in the garden . He’s been following Ben round while he’s been weeding the garden and is such good company . Had his first encounter with a small pooch the other day whilst walking with Ben . As expected excitable but nothing we haven’t experienced before with our previous hounds so far! He just is a very happy soul! Thank you daybreaks xx

First of all thanks for the lovely comments on the last post! Today we went to the beach. On the way back yesterday a lovely man with 2 greyhounds was outside his caravan and he came out to give me fuss and treats. I love him already. I went straight to the caravan today to see if he was there as I want my fuss and treats! Nope he wasn’t just the greyhound. I don’t want the greyhound I want fuss and treats!!! Monty Xx

Oh, I do so hope some kind person will offer Mikey and Lady a home together. He was such a sweet happy boy when we saw him on Sunday, and I almost got licked within an inch of my life every time I went past his run. Lady lay watching him with a look of adoration. Having had 4 Grey's at one time I think this 6-year-old duo would be a joy . Life begins at forty they say for us humans and I think age 6 for greyhounds is the same. Young enough to still adapt to change but like 40 yr olds, old enough to appreciate a good home lol and life certainly began anew when they arrived at Daybreaks. Fingers crossed x

Molly came back to the kennels after staying with Ruth last night after having her neutering operation. She was absolutely fine and very happy to see everyone. She just loves cuddles. Xxx

Another quiet night with Warrior "Steve", with one warning growl which I suspect was from Finn, as when my husband went down and checked Steve was trying to screw up Finn's blanket which we had moved away from his old bed which Steve has taken over! After that was sorted they gave us a "are you awake" whine at 7.30. He has not made any "puddles" in the house since we bought him home. I say puddles, but could be classed as small ponds when he does go !!! Never known a dog have such a long wee. Finn has been down the garden and back and Steve is still weeing lol Stand calling Steve and now I think the neighbours believe we have a lodger !!! I might have to take one in actually if Steve's appetite doesn't settle to help pay his food bill. He is still wandering around the house with me most of the day exploring. It must be such an exciting and frightening thing, all at the same time, the freedom after their previous life. He loves his new walks around the parks and is not worried by the traffic even on the main roads. So far has shown no interest in other breeds he has seen in the park even fluffy (come and get me ) small dogs. lol, Cannot say the same for squirrels! He is a very sweet boy who loves a cuddle and fuss and I am now attempting to make him wait at the kitchen entrance with Finn while I prepare dinner to be served in the breakfast room while I stand between them, as Steve has eaten his in seconds and would have no hesitation in going over to help himself to Finn's, who would let him have it!!! so think that's it for today's update and Steve has his head on my knee as I have been sat too long !!! lol Bless xx

Hi Monty’s hoomans here! We just want to say that Monty’s confidence is getting higher and higher. We are so proud of him and he is a delight. We have had him for 2 months now. That’s gone very fast by the way. However when we first had him he was a little unsure on walks and didn’t like other dogs as he was quite scared of them. Now he is completely different. His really enjoying his walks now and every time he goes out he is getting better and better. With dogs he now wants to play with them instead of avoiding them. We are very proud. He has also been excellent with everyone who has wanted to fuss him and give him attention. He is good with children too. He has been after mummy’s wine though. Back to Monty now to give him some fuss!

Daybreaks Diary!

A great day which saw our very handsome Mikey reserved this afternoon! 🙂 Xxx We had another family who came to find out more about adopting a Greyhound. Xxx Molly went off to the vets with James first thing this morning for her neutering operation. Ruth picked her up this afternoon and has taken her home for the night. :)) Xxx Thanks so much to Yvonne and Myra for sorting out the bedding that was very kindly donated over weekend. Xxx Many thanks to Gloria too for feeding our residents this afternoon. :)) Xxx
