Barney, has done well as I understand it. When I left him he was a little unsettled, something I would expect. I picked him up this morning and no complaints or comments of him doing lots of barking or howling as he used to do. That means that he is making progress. I you like this great boy get in touch with the trust.

Thank you Shanishoo and jet lucy for your comments re Fat neck Finn and the loss of our girl Nina. When I told Finn he will be getting a sister or brother soon, he started a list of qualities he is looking for in a companion. ---- Girls must be shapely, any sign of excess weight means they may steal his food! They must not grab his neck when running free in a paddock, only his mother could do that. and when he goes on holiday to Cornwall the couch is HIS (forget about ladies first) and any of her squeaky toys are fair game. Males----He would require them to understand he is just looking for a buddy and not to be too over-friendly with any females he meets when out walking as girls in the past have knocked him back making him less confident of his looks. Finally, male or female have to be very loving to us and love cuddling up as he is still not overly keen on being fussed (so would save him having to be bothered) Hates being kissed on the head and nearly knocked me unconscious when he bought his head up suddenly when I tried. Obviously, I am hoping that all his requirements will go out of the window when he meets THE ONE. xx

Loveheart, I am so sorry to hear that you have lost Nina and that Finn is missing her bless him, we lost our boy Dexter just before Christmas and our other Grey Douggie was constantly looking for him, its heart breaking to watch, so hopefully another brother or sister will cheer Finn up when the time is right. As Jetlucy said, we miss your stories about Finn, they always made me chuckle too. Take care xxxx

Daybreaks Diary!

Just a reminder, we have three foster dogs that are still available for adoption, they are Leo, Shelby and Barney. Erik had been working with Barney and feels now is the right time to have his forever home. He has worked so very hard with him and will be happy along with Daybreaks to offer continued help and support if necessary. Thanks. X

We started the day with a viewing, Joe who recently lost his girlfriend Lottie came in to meet Penny and Shelby. It was a close call, Penny (now Jenny won by a nose). So off she went to her new home. Next.....Little Chloe was the next to leave the building, she has two new hairy doggie friends to play with. Next......Lisa (now Narla), I would like to say she had a viewing, but as soon as the family saw her they were sold. Good luck to all our newly homed hounds. X Gorgeous George was very sadly returned, his family are totally devastated, but unfortunately his owner had developed an allergy to him and had this confirmed with tests. If anyone is interested in George, please call the kennels and we will get his previous owners to contact you, they are more than happy to speak to you. He has so much to give, amazing with children of all ages, good with other breeds and clean in the house. What more could you ask for? I am now shattered, I feel like I've been hit by a bus (some of you may wish I had been)!! What a whirlwind of a day. Thanks to Dave, Denise, Liz and Alison for their help today. Stay safe and well everyone, its now officially wine o'clock!!!

Heartbreaking for us all, we miss George already and our eldest daughter is beside herself. I think whoever gets to take George home is very lucky indeed. You couldn’t ask for a more kind natured, sweet and loving boy. I really hope to see him re-homed with a loving family very soon xxx Hope he is doing ok, please give him a kiss from us.

I already have my own Gorgeous George, who just happened to be in the sand run this afternoon with his chum Jasper. I couldn't resist a peak at the new Gorgeous George. His picture doesn’t do him justice, he is the most handsome boy, which a beautiful white line running up the middle of his nose and to his forehead. He was very affectionate and enjoyed some ear rubs and chin tickles, which he let me know he was happy for me to continue when I stopped. He really does seem to be a beautiful soul. Xx

Hi all, Some of you may remember Fat neck Finn. Well, he is now nearly 9 years old and not changed a bit regarding his love of food. In fact, on a recent check-up, he had put on 2 kgs I did get the vet to agree he is a big-boned boy but said I will try & cut down his treats, but we recently suddenly lost his sister the beautiful Nina who was nearly 12. At first, he thought she would be coming home from the vets as she had always done after her BP check-ups, and checked behind us every time we came home. Now he has begun to realize she is gone (as are we) We didn't feel ready to be able to look for another companion for him as we have been grieving for our old girl, even though she was the "boss" in the duo Finn is now we, feel craving a friend again. The only thing I think he has found a crutch to lean on is "more food" available and hence the 2 kgs comfort eat. We will be coming to the kennels to find a brother or sister very soon and it has to be Finn's choice. He met a little lady on holiday this month with her brother (a follower of Maisie Mays blogg) and got quite excited, but she knocked him back and really damaged his self-esteem (and we all know how that feels !) so he was sad for the rest of the day. We are hoping there is another kindred spirit out there who will love him as we do, maybe another boy or girl. Looks arn't important, his choice is! xx
