Ritchie

Ritchie came out for a lovely long walk with me today. He was so happy when it was his turn to go out, as he really does love being with someone and having a bit of extra attention. He walks very well and the lead stayed relaxed for the vast majority of the walk. He is a bit interested in other dogs and does whine on occasion, when he sees one in the distance. That said, when he actually gets close to the dog he is very manageable. He is keen to have a good look, but doesn't lunge. He did bark at one dog today, who completely ignored him. Ritchie backed down very quickly and we then walked with this dog and his owner for the next five minutes. Once Ritchie had had the first (and last word), I didn't hear a peep more out of him! We walked for about two hours and he was very happy to see his bed again. He flopped on it very contentedly to catch his breath. He is a really handsome boy. Fingers crossed he won't be at the kennels for too long xx

Sanka walked very well today and we only had to get the ball out once. When we arrived back so quickly, Jo assumed that the walk hadn't gone very well. It was quite the opposite. In fact, we had virtually sprinted along the A45 and back to the kennels. He was in the mood for a fast walk and that was what he got 🙂 He's a super boy xx

Daybreaks Diary!

A very busy day today! Lots of visitors for nail clipping and the sand run. It's always so good to see past Daybreaks residents looking healthy and happy! :)) A lady brought her beautiful lad Joseph to find himself a friend...he and his Mum chose Pitch. 🙂 She and Joseph make a lovely couple. 🙂 Buddy was also a very lucky lad and has found himself a great home with a lovely couple. 🙂 He was excellent at "selling himself" especially laying on his back, legs in the air looking very relaxed. 🙂 He is a smashing boy. Xxx Thanks so much to everyone who dropped by with donations of bedding and to the gentleman who brought in lots of tins of sardines. So very kind of you. :))) We tucked up the boys and girls with a Kong at bedtime. Ruth had also made up a "licky mat" for one of our more stressed boys. We left it by the door to the kennels only to find When we came to collect it that Tiggy had road tested it! :)) It was funny and she looked very pleased with herself. :)) Xxx My lovely Lyra and Skip were a little late having a play in the sand run and got straight into the car to go home afterwards...I now have a very sandy and soggy ball on a rope in the back. She always likes to bring out the toy she has been playing with. Sure it will have dried out by tomorrow!:)) Xxx Xxx

Hope Mr Locky is feeling a bit brighter today and that his paw isn't bothering him too much. He is obviously learning so much in his foster home, and is in the best place to recuperate from his op. As shanishoo says, Erik's updates are a learning experience for us hoomans too! x

Daybreaks Diary!

Thanks to Dave and Chris for all their help today, it was just the three of us. All dogs had morning and afternoon walks. I think that they were both kna...oops, shattered by the end of the day!! We saw Woody go out on foster, he had been a little withdrawn since he came back, not so when he met is potential new doggy family, he really livened up and was really responsive to them. All of our residents who are waiting for their forever homes are absolutely gorgeous, please, if you think you could offer one of them their forever home give the kennels a call, make an appointment to come in and view and who knows you may find your ideal companion! Fantastic to hear Shirley is starting to feel better and hopefully she and Richard will be back soon. We are short of volunteers on some days, so hopefully with lockdown beginning to ease we can welcome more of our lovely helpers back. As always, stay safe and well. X

Woody went out on foster today, fingers crossed if all goes well, then.......! I took him out to the car and he jumped right in, he was really excited and the existing dogs were great with him. Looking forward to the updates.

I had the most wonderful update on Trudie today. She has been perfect, she has really landed on her paws, her Dad said its him that has landed on his paws! She was a good girl overnight, totally clean in the house and a dream to walk. She was interested in some pigeons bless her. X
