Cello
Over the Rainbow Bridge
For those who know Cello and for those who remember the little girl who visited the airport to inspect a luxury airplane. I have to sadly say that Cello took her last flight today to rainbow bridge. She was definitely one on her own and knew her own mind. Our vets had nicknamed her 'the duchess' which was her to a tee. Will miss you Cello, but you will always be part of us. Now go find Guinness, tell him he's had enough peace now, you're back to keep him company.

I am so grateful to Kate, Jo and all the fabulous volunteers who have kept the kennels going whilst I have been poorly - yet again. I hope to be back very soon! Please can I remind anyone thinking of visiting the kennels, for whatever reason, to call and book an appointment slot as we have to be able to practice social distancing - for the safety of everyone!

Have a wonderful new life Penny. It’s been a pleasure having you in our house for the last few days even though you were a bit ‘dopey’ after your spay. You are a lovely girl and you will have a great time with your lovely new family xxx

I have no faith in the weather reports. It was supposed to stop raining today at 9.30 to 10am this morning. .....didn't happen! So the photoshoot turned into a very soggy affair. Thanks so very much to Sharron and Helen for braving the awful conditions and taking their wonderful photos. A massive thanks too to Sharrons lovely mom who made Christmas gift bags for the dogs and to Andy and wife with Trish greyhound who also donated gift bags with a lovely new fleece blanket, treats and a tin of fish to go out with homed and foster dogs. It is so very kind of people to think of us and the dogs. We are so very grateful. We had visitors to collect calendars and Christmas cards and treats for their dogs. It was so very busy today, at the last count I think I had cut the nails of ten dog's (this is my all-time favourite job......NOT)!!! We had more donated items delivered, thanks so very much. Thanks also for the fantastic cash donations given today, very generous. The lovely Penny was signed up and went off home, she had been on foster with a couple of people so already knows the ropes. Thanks to Rosie for having her since her spey, her new family are lovely, we did have such a laugh waiting for Rosie to bring her back to the kennels! It was so very cold again, even my thermal socks and vest (sorry, not a pretty sight) didn't seem to have the desired effect. I have to say thanks to Lynne, Si and Dave for all of their help today, as always very much appreciated. Once again, stay safe and well everyone. Jo xx

Thank you for your kind comments regarding Wendy. With patience and love it goes to show that even the most timid of dogs can flourish. I’m blessed that I have been able to offer Wendy a loving home and watch her grow in confidence and character. Long may the great work of Daybreaks continue.

It was a busy day with Scooby going off to his new home and Penny meeting the rest of her new family. Xx Lucky Auction winners collected their purchases and more Calendars were snapped up. :)) Thanks to everyone who dropped off bedding, treats and items for the next Auction! :)) Rosie came in this afternoon and brought in the new Christmas cards. They are lovely! Many thanks to Rosie for all her help today. Xxx The cards, calendars and Christmas gift treats are available on line or can be ordered over the telephone. You are also able to visit the kennels to purchase them but you do need to call to make an appointment first. :)) Thanks so much. Xxx We have a great new floor covering in the treatment room. 🙂 Many thanks to Steve (Grayson and Morgan's Dad) for his hard work. Xxx Wishing all those bringing their dogs in for the photo shoot tomorrow lots of fun! Xxx Xxx

What a lovely update on Wendy. So pleased to her that she is doing so well and continues to bring you so much happiness. She sounds like a little treasure, and so different from the timid little girl she was in kennels.

A quick update on the beautiful Wendy! We finally moved into our 'own' house mid September - considering she has had 2 moves in a very short space of time she has taken it all in her stride. I cannot believe how quickly the time has gone since her adoption in Sept 2019. Her character really shines through now - a loving dog who just wants to give so much and expects very little in return. She is always smiling and loves following her 'sister' Jinky around all the time. She continues to love spending time curled up on the bed and sleeps solidly throughout the night. A real poppet who has brought so much delight and happiness! I can't imagine life without her!

I was flying solo first thing this morning, my sidekick Dave was feeling unwell so he and Maisie Moo stayed home in the warm. Hopefully he will be feeling better very soon. Thanks to Chris and greyhound Molly for coming in and keeping me company. ASBO Arry and Sarah Scare Bear also came with me and enjoyed pottering around the kennels. Angie and Mike delivered the auction items all ready to be collected, many thanks to them for their hard work organising the event and what an amazing amount was raised. X The highlight of the day was the rehoming of Eagle now called Loki, his foster pawrents have become members of our now famous failed foster club (I am a two time ffp member myself)!! It was so very cold again, winter is well and truly with us now. The weekend brings us another homing...watch this space and also the photo shoot on Sunday, all in all a busy weekend. Hoping Ruth is starting to feel better, and as always stay safe and well everyone.xx
