What a gorgeous boy. Another Crash relative for Sam and Nadie. Judging from his photo he has the amazing Crash ears. Look forward to seeing you at the weekend if you're still there. x

    I’m Homed

Today I was fortunate enough to take the beautiful Queeny out to Sutton Park. In the kennel she is relaxed and comes for a cuddle. When going to the car she was very alert and keen. She wanted to jump in the car but did not quite manage this. After I helped her in the car she was standing the whole route to Sutton Park. I first thought she was stressed but looking at her in my mirror I did not notice any stress signals. She seemed curious about where she was going and was looking out of the rear window. To put it simply she was being nosy. Once in the park, Queeny jumped out of the car eagerly and was keen to go. She was very alert to all sights and sounds. The sounds I will come back to later. She had her head up and walking confidently, looking left, right, centre and behind her. She pulls but it is easily controlled and responds well to her name and instructions. When we were a third through our walk, in the distance she saw a Labrador puppy and got quite excited. Again I did not have a problem controlling this behaviour, she responded well to “NO” or “STOP”. The moment we got going again she would want to get to the Labrador as quickly as possible. I got curious as her behaviour stopped short of stalking, which could be a prelude to attack. So I wanted to she what she would do when we got to her target. We caught-up with the puppy, and to my relief she said hello and then lost interest. In this case it seemed she wanted to satisfy her curiosity and is doing the keenly. We met lots of people of all ages. There was no issues at all. She sometimes showed no interest, other times she was leaning against a lady as we were chatting. I think she can get bored quickly, as she wanted to run with a runner who came past. As the weather had ben poor we did not meet any cyclists or many runners. Towards the end we came across, two fluffy white Bichon Frise. The first one walked passed ok the second one Queeny was not sure about and wanted to snap at the little doggy. Of course, as we always do walk with a muzzle so no harm done. However, for new owners it is important to learn about her response to other dogs, and initially have a muzzle on. I did mention earlier about sounds. Queeny response to a lot of sounds and sights. What I noticed is that she specifically responds to other dogs barking even if she cannot she them. She will raise her head and prick-up her ears. Queeny, is not a toy girl she enjoys treats. She is a good traveller, very curious and very alert. She does pull a bit but nothing that cannot be controlled. Queeny I enoyed my walk with you today. I apologise chatting away with ladies as you were keen to walk again, but they did seem very keen on you. That is understandable as you have a beautiful caught and great temperament. We had an hours walk today, thank you for the training session. I hope to see on your profile reserved or re-homed, soon.

    I’m Homed

I took Queenie home again last night - she has such big brown eyes that just look longingly at you...... aggghhhh! Despite the unsettled night she had a few weeks ago when I first took her home, she been coming home with me intermittently and has learnt very quickly and already knows the routine at ours - importantly where her bed is and where she gets cuddles on the sofa. I took her for a walk and saw a German Shepherd dog which she didn't react to or pull at all but I gather her problem is more with dogs in the distance so Erik has arrived at the kennels this morning and she has gone off to Sutton Park for a walk. We will let you know how she gets on. Her other problem is separation anxiety which I will work on. It's been a busy morning already! Declan arrived and took to sorting out filling the skip and Vic's new owners have come to visit Vic this morning and he has just gone out on a walk with them and our hardy walkers Jo and Yvonne as the weather is intermittently horrible! Already we have had a new arrival - the gorgeous Mr Rocky who retired due to a broken hock. After a coffee he is going to be bathed and we are waiting for our second new arrival later today.

A bit of a mixed day, lovely Molly had gone to stay with Rosie which left four dogs in kennels. Very sadly Gold came back this afternoon, if anyone would like to come and view him please call the kennels and we can give you further information. He would probably be best to be an only dog in the home, he is clean, generally well behaved and loves his food. All the kids had lovely morning and afternoon walks. Many thanks as always to everyone who came in and helped. X

Sadly Timmy (Gold) has been returned today. He is a lovely boy, clean in the house and loves his food. He is quite strong on the lead and it was felt by his owner that he needs a home with a stronger person to walk him, he seems to respond well to male voices. He would also benefit from being the only dog in the family.

As we were a little short on walkers this morning, Ruth said she had a crazy idea....put muzzles on all the dogs and let them out to explore the kennels! :)) Sounded fun so we did! They all loved it! Skip and Lyra joined in as well. It was great to see them following each other around and enjoying the freedom. :)) Ruth was trying to get Lucy and Vic to take part in a "how to stop your dog from being a counter surfer" demonstration but they were having none of it! They did however enjoy all the treats that came their way! :)))) It was fun to watch! Xx Meanwhile Norman took Queeny for a trip to the park, she also had a great time 🙂 She was a good girl. Xx Richard and Declan spent most of their time in the sand run trying to rescue the marquee, sadly the wind took hold of it at the weekend and has thrown it over the fence! It's work in progress to be continued on Thursday! Thank you so much to everyone for you help today. Xxx Xxx

A cuddle for Queeny tonight, she has been very kindly fostered for the last week or so but is now back at the kennels.....well she did go home with Ruth tonight! 🙂 She is a very happy, very affectionate, bright young lady who needs a little help with what it means to be retired! :)) She can also sit like a real dog!!
