We met Billy today and took him for a good walk. He was scared, overwhelmed and excited all in one! He met a few dogs which he found extremely interesting but we stood and chatted to one couple who had a spaniel and he very quickly lost interest. I am pleased to say tomorrow he will be coming home with us to Scotland

Daybreaks Diary!

It was lovely to see the sunshine today, I even managed to hang out some washing on the line for a good flap in the breeze. This morning, as we were a bit short of help, I took some of our more energetic residents for a play in the sand run, whilst our lovely volunteers took the rest for a walk. Penny really enjoyed her romp around, she does love to play! Kelly also had a blast, racing up & down at top speed - it was a bit hairy on occasions though as she came hurtling straight towards me, smiling as she ran - you learn to move sideways very quickly!!! This morning saw my sweet Lou reserved again - so happy for her and keeping everything crossed that things work out for her this time. Nell is recovering well after her op yesterday, and our 2 new girls are so sweet. Misty is a little unsettled still, but Susie seems fine. She really is tiny though as the lead was almost too big for her neck even down on its last hole! We had more help this afternoon so all the boys & girls could enjoy a lovely walk in the sunshine. A big thank you to all our volunteers who are continuing to help us take care of our boys & girls. Well, another weekend upon us and it is shaping up to be a busy one with several viewings booked, so keep everything crossed. I shall be raising my glass both to Team Daybreaks (staff, volunteers & supporters) and our current residents - as they said during WW2 (well, almost!) "stay calm - and carry on caring for the Greyhounds". Take care all. Cheers - Angie xx

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Have you adopted from us before? If you have, and you think you could offer a foster home for a short period, we would be very grateful. We are due to have the new fire alarm system installed in the next few weeks - the date is to be confirmed shortly - and this would involve the kennels being out of use whilst this is done. Of course with the added stress of the Corona Virus we are unsure of your response...... so if you think you can help, please call the kennels on 0121 782 7702 and speak to Jo or Kate. I am really sorry that if you haven't adopted from us before, as we are unable to carry out home visits, we would not be able to let you foster. Many thanks Ruth Please do not send any messages or emails as we are already inundated - please just call the landline number which diverts to a mobile and your call will be answered. The kennels will remain open for purchase of food but this is now limited to a collection time of between 10.30am - 12.30pm
