2019 Daybreaks Diary!

It has been a very cold day today, but thankfully dry. Thanks as always to our Wednesday walkers and our college placement students. All dogs that could have a walk enjoyed both morning and afternoon strolls. We had several visitors come to use the sand run. Thanks to everyone who brought in donations of towels and bedding. A strange request I know, but we could do with any newspapers that you have finished with! I had a call from the lovely family that had reserved Drew yesterday, after a long chat last night they decided that the time may not be right at the moment and made the decision to cancel the reservation. It was a difficult decision for them to make, but the right one for them. They are hoping that in a few months they will be able to home one of our dogs. Drew then had a visit this afternoon which has resulted in a phone call after his visitors got home wanting to take him out on foster with them over Christmas...who knows what might happen? Thanks so much for them for offering him 'home' over the festive period. I know how difficult the decision was, especially after losing Barney so tragically. x

Wow! 16 donations. I know how amazing that is as Sam gave blood for the first time a couple of months ago and was fine but was too nervous once he got on the bed this time so we all made the decision to leave it. We're trying one more time. I know it's a similar story with others so it's not so common for dogs to become regular donors. It's definitely still worth going even for 1 donation as that can potentially save 4 lives.

Boots is such a tiny boy, he weighed just 25Kg on the vets scales today. He was great in the car, sat quietly for the whoie journey.:) He was a very god boy during his stay at the vets. He saw a small dog in the waiting room and was fine with him. When I picked him up tonight I was told all the nurses had fallen for our super little boy! :)) Xxx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!

It was Boots's turn to be neutered today. Poor lad has had several teeth removed...Ouch! However it didn't stop him from eating his dinner when he got back to the kennels. I couldn't collect him until 6pm, he must have been so hungry! Xxx The Pet Blood Bank were at the kennels, only Danny and Drew were able to donate as most of our residents have just been neutered or about to be neutered so were unable to help today. Xx A lovely family came to meet the dogs and ended up reserving Drew! Brilliant news! Xxxx Thanks so much to everyone for your help today! Xxx

I am so very proud of my girl today. She gave her 16th donation to Pet Blood Bank, sadly as she will be 9 on Christmas eve this was her last donation. She has potentially saved the lives of 64 dogs....amazing I think. Flloydy also donated, he just loves all the fuss and attention he gets! Although both of them nearly fell asleep whilst on the table!! If you are unsure of putting your hound forward to do this, please either call me at the kennels or Pet Blood Bank directly on 01t09 232222. They are next back on 25 February, so if your dog is fit, healthy and weighs 25 kg or over please think about it. They all get a goody bag, toy and some Chappie food afterwards.
