Frankie's family have asked me to write the following comment on their behalf... "It is with great sadness we have had to say goodbye to Frankie. He was very much loved and he is dearly missed by us all, especially Yogi, his German Shepherd brother. Xx His ashes are scattered on the beach in Torquay, his favourite place of all Xx" God Bless your lovely lad. Xxx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
What a cold & frosty start to the day - the latch on my driveway gate was frozen and took a bit of persuasion to open!! I am not impressed, it's way too early to be winter yet! It turned into a very bright but cold day - we had plenty of helpers so both morning & afternoon walks took place - but there were some volunteers with some very red noses by the end!! Thanks everyone for your help today. It was a very busy scene at the kennels all day as we began our festive preparations - our trees were put up and decorated by the students, and Santa's Grotto is starting to take shape. Both post-op doggies are fine today, eating well and bright as buttons. This afternoon saw the arrival of 2 beautiful little black girls to join the Daybreaks family - Celia and Princess. Princess is a very happy, bouncy girl with a very waggy tail. Celia is very shy & nervous at the moment, but it must be very overwhelming for them both to find themselves in a new environment that they don't know, surrounded by people, sights and sounds that are strange to them. They both enjoyed their dinner though, so let's hope they have a settled night. We had lots of visitors today - customers for pampers and to use the run, donations of lovely towels and bedding and sales of Christmas cards & calendars. Trebles also had a visit from his new Mum who spent some time in his kennel with him. Well incredibly its the weekend yet again - a bit of a quieter one for me after last week's fabulous Christmas event. We have some of our red signs turning green tomorrow - so lets hope that they are quickly replaced by some new red signs as more of our boys & girls find their forever families in time for Christmas. I will raise my glass to toast this, may have to have a tot of brandy this evening by way of a change. Purely medicinal of course to chase away the cold!! Whatever you're doing this weekend, stay warm and enjoy! Angie xx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
An early start for me and Jess this morning. Jess very kindly dropped Finnie off at Fivelands, Moseley for his neutering operation and I took Shelly to the Yardley branch for her neutering operation. As I got up earlier than usual only one of my four wanted to come out for a walk with me! Good old Fletch! :)) xx Thanks so much to Pauline who is soon to be Finn's new Mommy for collecting him from the vets for us and to Richard and Shirley for picking up little Shelly. We are so grateful. Xxx It was lovely to see Roxy go home. She is now known as Penny, although the family's little girl wanted to call her Beryl! :). Wishing them all lots of happy times together. Thanks so much to everyone who brought in bedding and items for the donation table. Many thanks to the person who sent us some tins of pilchards via Amazon. So kind of you. 🙂 I met Knight today, what a handsome lad he is! We wanted to called him Lance....short for Lancelot! A true Knights name! :))) He is a very happy, friendly lad. Xx There are two new girls due to arrive tomorrow! Xx We had lots of walkers today, great to see everyone. 🙂 Thank you. Alan, Richard and Declan did a warehouse run for us. I can recommend the packets of Puff Jerky they have discovered. Mine love it! 🙂 xx Xxx

Evie

I think 'she is a character' is the best way to describe Evie. She seems to love people. She is interested in everthing, enjoys snuggling upside down in her bed. She will be a fun companion. More kisses for her tonight. Xxxxx

Knight

I was sooo impressed with Knight today. He was very excited when I put his lead on to take him out and he is a big strong lad!!! He pulled me to the gate and then once on the drive he did a big wee and after that he walked perfectly by my side on a slack lead. Back at the kennel we enjoyed a cuddle. He's a fantastic hound who will make a brilliant retired pet!! Huge cuddles for him xx

Cold, wet and miserable, not just a description of the weather, but also our volunteers! Despite this all residents had two walks. New boy Knight arrived this morning, he is very tall and handsome. Don't think his stay will be a long one. Also met lovely Lou, a pretty girl who reminded me of my Sarah Moo Cow before her face turned white. Our next event is less than two weeks away, Santa Paws is visiting Daybreaks on Sunday 8th December between 10.30 am and 2.30pm. Bring your greys for a visit. We will, in addition to human refreshments also have festive doggy bags for sale. Come and help us celebrate.

My flipping phone is playing up!!! As I was saying....... doshy poos were not pleasant characters & those who were nice were not rich!! As I tried explaining to the boys today once they spied me trying secretly to put lots of yummies in their £1 stockings they have no chance of me makingvthem rich & eligible......especially after my rather expensively put together Sat eve!!!! Fergie'sickle ears were standing on end & Teddy just keptvwagging his tail!! I swear that child has permanent duracell in him somewhere. Tell Lyra that a kind gentle giving & sharing soul is much better than lots of dosh. That is what I have learned. Xx

Hi Seana, Lou may well be fine with others in a home environment....sometimes they just need a little more space :)) Poor Teddy, have spoken to Lyra but she says she is waiting for a millionaire to sweep her off her feet and take her somewhere warm and sunny where she can play with her ball and not get muddy! :)) Thank you for the mince pies! They were lovely. :)) Xxx
