ONE more sleep Tommy then you'll have your own forever home. Pleased I got to have a cuddle with you today. You were so relaxed - like you know you're going home. Be a good boy and we'll see you on a walk soon I hope. x

Hi tessbonn, Roxy is a super little girl. She is very quiet in her kennel, likes to make her own bed! :)) She enjoys going for walks and is great on the lead. She hasn't met any small fluffies yet but gets on well with the other Greyhounds. She is good with people and loves a cuddle. Xx If you would like to meet her please call the kennels on 0121 782 7702. Xxx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
A very cold day again but nice and dry so we were able to go on morning and afternoon walks. Shirley took Kristoff for a gentle stroll around the sand run as he is post op after his neutering operation earlier this week. :)) Many thanks to everyone who brought in donations of bedding and food for our residents and items for our donation table. Xx Recently homed little Cassie came in with her Greyhound brother and sisters to have a play in the sand run. It was lovely to see her as she was quite poorly for a few days after her neutering operation. Today she was a very happy girl! :)) Thanks so much to all our lovely volunteers today.... 🙂 Xxx Xxx

Finn (Trebles)
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Took Trebles for a walk yesterday. He's interested in the world around him, easy to walk on a lead. Loves hugs and being stroked and whoever has reserved him is very lucky.

I took Drew for a walk yesterday and he is a sweet dog who walked well on his lead. He was very excited getting ready for a walk. Nice leaner when hugged. He's a big friendly giant!

Dewey (Dew)
I’m Homed
Oh no Dewey! How dare they.... I would make sure that you look at the spot where your bed should be and then at your slaves, repeat at least 20 times. Hopefully they will take the hint and get you a new bed for your daytime spot, it worked for me as I now have 3 indoor dog beds, use of the sofa, use of a chair, use of the guest bed in TCs study and an outdoor dog bed! Good luck with the slave training. Florence xxx

Teddy
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Hi Jeff, a lot of people who foster for us end up being a failed foster parent and adopting instead! :)) We don't really expect Teddy to be coming back to the kennels. Xxx

Well it was nice and dry but very cold. Thanks to our Wednesday walkers, students and the lovely volunteers who came in today. They were quite taken with our residents. Kristoff was bouncy today after his neutering op yesterday, he was not happy that he couldn't go on a walk, bless him. He made that very clear! Thanks for the donations of bedding and towels. There were a couple of bookings for the sand run. The final arrangements for the Countdown to Christmas are underway. If you would like a ticket but have yet to get one please contact us by Friday, just so we can confirm numbers for catering purposes. We will also have lots of lovely goodies on sale too. Well, I'm now going to try and get warm. Take care everyone.

Does fostered mean rehomed in most cases?

We have had an appeal from Head Office. Can anyone help please? They said..... We have a PDSA trial injury recovery scheme dog who has injured herself (appears to be broken hock) during her second trial at Wolverhampton today. She will shortly be taken PDSA Oldbury this evening to be made comfortable and will be assessed tomorrow morning. Before we do an open appeal for her publicly, does anyone have any regular foster carers who may be free to assist? She will need regular vet check ups at PDSA Oldbury (St Matthews Rd, Oldbury B68 8AB). All medical bills at PDSA will be directed to head office and assistance with travel expenses would apply. Any foster carers would need to sign a Greyhound Trust Injury recovery scheme foster agreement.

Tommo
Over the Rainbow Bridge
I met Tommo this evening. He is such a lovely gentle boy, a little wobbly, but very friendly and made me laugh pushing and pulling his duvet around to try and get it in just the perfect position- which didn't happen! I put it right for him and he walked away! A lovely boy xxx

Ross (Kristoff)
I’m Homed
Kristoff is the most perfect boy 🙂 He had to go for his neutering operation today. He was such a good lad in the car, sitting straight down and not moving until we arrived at the vets. I took him for a walk up the road to go for a wee before going into the vets, where he met a Schnauzer and was very friendly with him. In the vets waiting room he met a very noisy Chihuahua and was great with him too. All the stsff at the vets loved him and said he was such a good boy. Especially as he had to have a major op to find a "missing" testicle. It was found in his abdomen. Whoever gets to take this beautiful lad home will be so very lucky. 🙂 Xxx

Another busy day! 🙂 It was Kristoff's turn to be neutered today. It was a big operation for him as unfortunately only one of his testicles was visible so he had to be opened up to find the other one. Ouch! It was found in his abdomen . All the staff at the vets fell in love with him as he was the perfect patient. Xxx Ruth and I collected him early this evening and also took our returnee Tommo for a check up. He too was the perfect patient! Xxx Wonderful to see Finnie reserved. He is going to have a great family to live with. :)) Thanks so much to everyone who helped out today. So very much appreciated. Xxxx Xxx
