Thank you for thinking of me. Back home feeling very sorry for myself. Only had stitches, mom is so relieved, pray that no breakdown or infection sets in please. Ffloydd, you’re perfect as you are, think mom is more worried I might need some tail amputated than me. Lubs to all. Florence xxx

Sending hugs to you Klaire, TC and of course Florence. Hope all is ok and no amputation is needed. Flloydy says there is nothing wrong with having a shorter tail. Love to you all, Jo and the five furry monsters. X

Please pray for Florence this afternoon. She cut her tail on Sunday evening and we had managed to control bleeding and keep it bandaged. At 1pm today she started bleeding through the bandage - she couldn’t resist wagging that tail- she is in surgery at the moment. They hope to stitch it but she might need the end amputated. Xxx

    I’m Homed

It was a quiet day for volunteers and visitors today. I guess most people are back to work and school this week. I hope all the Greyhounds who have been homed during the summer holidays soon settle into their new rountines. Xx We had extra help this afternoon so all the doggies had a walk in the late summer sunshine. I had the pleasure of walking Tommy. He walks beautifully on the lead and is very interested in everything around him. :)) Maisie made us laugh at feeding time. She had finished her dinner and decided she would like to share some of Cleo's who was next door to her. She put her paw through the bars and was trying so hard to grab Cleo's food bowl...Cleo wasn't too impressed! 🙂 Thanks so much to everyone for your help today. :)) Xxx

    I’m Homed

I'd like to share this from Canberra connection A Doberman, a Poodle and a Greyhound died and are standing in front of God at the entrance to heaven. God askes them, all three what they believe in The Doberman says 'I believe in discipline, training and loyalty to my owner.' 'Good 'says God 'you may sit on my right side'. 'Poodle what do you believe?' asks God. The Poodle replies, 'I believe in love and care from my owner as well as peace in the world' 'Ah says God 'You may sit on my left side' Then He looked at the Greyhound 'And what do you believe?' The Greyhound stood there, looked at Him and answered 'I believe you're sitting in my seat'

  • 2019 Daybreaks Diary!

    I’m Homed

At the start of the day there were two of us! With feeding and cleaning almost done two reinforcements arrived, so all dogs had a walk down the lane, albeit a little later than normal. We had visitors for the sand run and donations of bedding. We also had two prospective college placement students come in for a tour of the kennels. Hopefully they will be starting in the next couple of weeks. This afternoon it was a little playtime in the outdoor runs for the residents as we didn't have enough volunteers to go on walks. It was lovely to see Ruth and Andy this afternoon with Momma and Tig. Ruth looks (and feels) so much better. Hopefully she will be back at the helm at the end of September. This leads me on quite nicely to remind you that tickets are on sale for our 'Let th stars shine...again' evening. Last year was great, there was a fantastic atmosphere, with people sharing memories and stories of the antics our beloved Rainbow Bridge hounds got up to whilst sitting under last tern lit gazebos. The date to put in your diary in Saturday 21st September. Tickets are just £5.00, this includes a jacket potato, a candle and a candle holder. Please let us know if you can make it we will need to know for catering purposes. All profits will go to Daybreaks Trust for improvements to the kennels. Parking will be at the top end of the Exiles Rugby Club and access will be via the gate backing on to the club in the sand run. Another week has crept up on us, let's get some more red and green signs for our beautiful hounds. Take care all.
