Barney
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Hi Barney, sorry to hear you were so frightened last night. Fletcher, Lyra and Bobby were terrified of the thunderstorms last night too. 🙁 Bobby was so scared he came upstairs; he hasn't tried to get up the stairs since we had him. Poor lad. However Skip slept through it all! Bless him. :)) Xxx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
Another very hot day, tomorrow's forecast is for even hotter weather. Please remember that pavements get very hot and can burn your dog's pads. The current recommendation is, that if possible walk before aim and after 8pm. Today our residents managed a morning walk as the sun had not fully shown itself, thanks to our Wednesday walkers. This afternoon they had playtime in the kennel runs with the hose pipe and paddling pool, most seemed to really enjoy it. It was quiet for visitors today. We did have a lovely couple come to have a look around after losing their greyhound very recently. They are coming back to have another look around at the end of the week. Hoping that when they are ready they will be able to offer a loving home to another deserving grey. Take care all and make sure your hounds are comfy and cool in this weather. We do have some cool coats for sale at the moment, just give the kennels a call if you would like one.

Thinking of you all. He meant so much to you it’s heartbreaking when they leave us and while you must miss him incredibly, I hope you can now smile about the happy times too. xxxx

We heard a horrible storm outside late last night. It was scary. Lots loud bangs. Dad took me downstairs as I was very anxious and he just sat with me. Now the loud scary storm is gone and we have this big heat attack. It’s so hot I can’t stand it. I constantly have a cold towel on me and my hoomans are happy that I have finally learnt that the fans cool me down and won’t hurt me. I love fans! Barney Xx Ps I’ve been shredding again!

Tommy was the most relaxed of our residents today, he didn't seem to mind the hot weather. This afternoon he was happily on his bed all legs in the air! Sending him my cuddle tonight. Xxx

Dewey is a little brighter than she was when she arrived a few days ago. She got off her bed and came to greet us with Willis when we opened up the kennels this morning. She doesn't like to eat out in the run but is happy to have her meal in the kennel and then come out to go to the toilet. once she is out, she does enjoy going for walks with the other dogs. :)) Xxx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
It was very hot today! The dogs went out for a walk this morning but this afternoon we got them out into the runs for a cooling spray from the hosepipe:) Helen enjoyed herself "watering" the dogs :)) We also had the paddling pool out. Eric had a great time jumping around in it :)) Most of the others thought it was giant water bowl! Richard climbed on the roof and put some blankets and sheets over the skylights in the top block as the kennels were getting so hot. 🙂 Many thanks to Seana who popped in with ready made small bags of fruit for all our residents to have with their dinner. We were quite jealous she hadn't made a bag up for us people! :))) Thanks too to everyone who has dropped in tins of meat and fish and also bedding and towels. 🙂 It was hard for everyone to stay cool and we left the dogs with the fans on. As I was checking them one last time before I went home, someone had had a little accident in Annie and Charisma's kennel. They came out while I cleaned the floor and ofcourse everyone else got restless so they all came out for a toilet break and a rub over with a cool wet towel! :)) Hope they all sleep ok tonight. Xx Xxx

So very happy that Skip is doing so well. As many of you will know, I have a soft spot for him as he was the first dog I bathed (I only went in to hand some paperwork in accepting my job) and was photographed with him, he looked great on Sunday when he came in. Hoping his full recovery is a quick one. Xx
