    I’m Homed

Bocko earnt a trip out to Sheldon Country Park today by being rather noisy in his kennel! As Jo wanted to reach the end of the day with her ability to hear in tact, I offered to take him off her hands for a few hours! He jumped in the car happily and lay down quickly. Once at the park, I didn't hear a peep out of him. He started quite strongly in the lead but calmed down quickly. He was well behaved around other breeds and didn't even flinch when a staffie jumped up him (several times!!).He wasn't so keen to jump back in the car at the end, but I guess he knew his adventure was over for the day. He's a very handsome boy xx

    I’m Homed

A very busy morning, only Ollie and myself in to clean the kennels and feed the dogs. We had reinforcements arrive in the shape of Gloria and a visitor from the Isle of Man who has homed dogs from us in the past, thanks Bob for your help. Honey G and Bocko both went off to the Sheldon Country Park walk. Good reports on both of them when they came back. We had a visit from Basil, who was Conte, he has settled really well and has his family wrapped around his paws. It is really nice to hear and see how ex residents are getting on. He went home with a new collar, harness and toy! Charlotte greyhound came for a pamper with Lorna, she was such a good girl. Ruth and Andy popped in for Andy to put some tags on the memory wall, it is looking lovely. Raffle tickets are still available for our birthday open day, there are some fantastic prizes up for grabs, I would like the 1st three prizes please, a week's holiday, £500 cash and a booze hamper. Would be more than happy with that!! If you would like, or need a snow shovel (bear with me on this) we have quite a lot in stock and all at a suggested donation of £1.00 each!!! With the unpredictability of recent weather, who knows or maybe think forward planning. So stock up now whilst you can before we sell out..... Bolt went out to Brueton park with his new mom, he jumped straight into the car, he had a good time and is due to go home this week. I sadly didn't get a chance to go and sit with Maisie today, she did do kisses through the kennel door. She is a completely different dog to the one who came through the gates on Wednesday. She will now happily come out of and go back to her kennel without any fuss. She also really loves her food. Hoping for a good week ahead, we are starting to make final arrangements for the birthday open day. If you can spare any time helping to set up or make a cake please let us know.

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Honey is a real smasher. We took her to the sheldon walk today. She got in and out of the car by herself, she was a bit unsettled in the car but I'm sure she will be fine once she is used to it. She walked really beautifully on the lead with no pulling whatsoever. She met a few other breeds and whilst interested in them, she was not particularly excited and not at all aggressive. She was calm and happy to walk with our dog Katy and even gave me a 'hug' before we dropped her back at daybreaks. I hope somebody will soon give her the retirement she deserves x

    I’m Homed

It's Skip's 1st gotcha day anniversary today. It's been quite a year. He got through an aggressive tumour, gained a little greyhound brother and lost his greyhound big brother. Lots of friends have been made and he's got his bronze good citizen award and is working towards his silver. We wouldn't have thought it was possible when we first got him. He was so on edge all the time. Very broken. He learned to give and get affection and is particularly fond of his human Dad. He's been camping and we now have a tow caravan where he's allowed on our bed! To celebrate his gotcha day we went to training class where he and the other dogs had sardine cake - humans had lemon drizzle cake. We then went to the kennels where he and Sam had a rest while we helped walk the kennel dogs then he and Sam had a blast in the sand run. Photos and videos on Facebook - he's hilarious throwing the toys around to himself. Back home, dinner the SLEEEEEEEEP. They are zorsted! Another busy day tomorrow at the Sheldon walk then visiting family. Skip, we love you SOOOOOO much. Here's to many more wonderful years with you and your brother. x

What a lovely girl Maisie is. We knew she was nervous so we cautiously went to her kennel. She came to us for strokes on the face and head, so I went in and sat with her for a little bit and she even gave me a little kiss for my trouble. Hopefully she will gain her confidence, I am sure she will with all the love from Daybreaks to help her x

    I’m Homed

Decided to visit Maisie on my day off today. After she had been on her walk I went and sat with her again, this time she was unmuzzled! She was fantastic, she gets on her bed when you ask her to. I went in armed with some cooked chicken. She is a clever little girl, she knew when I put the chicken in another pocket. After chicken we had cuddles and even kisses on my nose. Before I left her, she was kissing my hands (might have been she could still smell the food)! When she finally gains your trust I believe she would make a lovely pet, albeit with an experienced owner. I will sit with her again tomorrow, can't wait to see how she does.

    I’m Homed

Such a good time in Birmingham. Barney and I had lots of tail wagging competitions and swapped beds loads of times. At Daybreaks on Thursday I saw auntie Kate and auntie Jo who brought Flloyd and the gang and we ran round and round playing in the run! Mom and I are really tired now so spending most of my time lying on my back on the sofa. Yeah ok I do that anyway..... Lubs to all. Florence xxx

    I’m Homed

Thanks you Julie. Progress has already been made! I went into Maisies kennel several times today just to sit with her and see her reaction. She was great with me. She enjoyed cuddles, and lay across my lap. We got to the point that she trusted me so much that she came right up to my face and kissed me several times through her muzzle. Her trainer also called to see how she was, it was great to tell him that we are making some progress. She certainly is better on a harness, but today I got her in and out of her kennel without a lead. It will take time and patience but she will get there. I am more than happy to put the time and effort in to help this little girl overcome her insecurities and find her the right home. X
