    I’m Homed

I had the pleasure of walking this sweetheart today at the Sheldon Country Park Walk. She waited patiently to leave the kennels and got into the soft crate in our campervan by herself easily. She didn't seem phased at all by the fact our own greyhound, Skip, was in his own crate. When we got to the park she quietly waited to be let out of the van. I was warned that she's not keen on little dogs and she did initially bark and pull a bit, but with distraction and telling her she was a good girl she calmed down. She walked very well other than when she saw the little dogs off lead - again, some gentle talking to her and distraction and she kept walking. It started raining quite heavily and this didn't phase her either. She got back into the camper happily and we took her back to the kennels. She then didn't want to get out. I think she wondered why we'd taken her back. It broke my heart but we can't have 3 dogs. From what I've seen of Daisy today, she's a sweetheart but but won't be able to live with little dogs (or maybe non greys?) Walking-wise she was a little bit of a puller when there were off lead dogs, but I'm not strong and I could control her. I really hope someone with the right home set up falls in love with beautiful Daisy and takes her to her forever home soon. Lynne x

My sweet girly...I have been thinking about you and Daisy & Treaty a lot over recent weeks. I am delighted that the people who met you at Melbicks came back to meet you properly today. If you had not been there yesterday I was going to suggest taking you there today. I know the roadshow team sometimes have reservations about the kennel dogs being at the roadshows in case it proves to stressful for them but it just goes to show that it can be worth it as it only takes that one person or family to be visiting and even if they are not intentionally looking to adopt.......they become smitten by the well behaved boys and girls there. I am over the moon for you. Well done lovely and hope to see you Friday if you have not already left the building!!! Great news. Xxxx

We took Mikey out today. He travelled beautifully in the car and was such a good gentle boy on the lead, he didn't pull at all. He met lots of different breeds and was lovely and calm the whole time. He really did love a fuss too and kept headbutting me and leaning in for more. He is a really fantastic boy and will make a wonderful companion.

What a sweetie this boy is! Conte is a happy boy who loves other dogs, he’s paired up with little Pearl. He enjoyed his first park experience today at Sheldon Country park this morning along with Treaty, Nerys, Mikey and Daisy. He was very well behaved, maybe a little overwhelmed about the new experience but he was not too nervous. He walked passed lots of other breeds big and small and showed some interest but no aggression and wasn’t pulling to go over. He walks calmly on the lead and loved interacting with the other greys. I’m sure with his handsome looks and personality he’ll he snapped up in no time! X

It was great to see Freddie go home this morning 🙂 He is a very happy boy and is eager to start his new life. Later this afternoon his Mom sent a photo of him sitting on the bed! Wishing Freddie and his family lots of happy times together. Xx The weather stayed dry most of the day and we were able to do morning and afternoon walks without getting wet! Rhaegal's new Mom came to visit her today. She is hoping to take her home next weekend after her garden fence has been sorted. She spent most of the day with her beautiful girl sitting on her bed reading. Rhaegal loved being with her Mom having lots of cuddles and getting to know each other. She has a new name....Luna. 🙂 Xx Many thanks to Sarah for taking Nerys out to visit Melbicks for a road show. I was a little comcerned in case Nerys was too nervous but needn't have worried Nerys had a lovely time. 🙂 Jess gave ex-resident, Teddy a pamper this afternoon. He looks absolutely gorgeous and is a very happy, pampered pooch! Xx Eli who was Buster came in for a visit too. His owner says her daughter has finally got what she always wanted, a dog who will sleep on her bed with her! :)) x We said Goodbye to Oli, one of our Duke of Edinburgh volunteers today. He has been with us on Saturdays for the last three months, through wind, rain and sun! Thanks Oli it has been a real pleasure and we will all miss you. Xx Ruth and Angie were at the Spring Fayre this afternoon; so pleased to hear it was a great success and it raised lots of money. Ruth brought us some cake back! :)) Thank you to the person who made it. I know Angie has worked so hard to arrange everything. Xxx Thanks so much to everyone for their help today. I couldn't think of any really challenging jobs for Jayne, 🙂 but I will work on it! Xx Xxx

I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along today to support our Spring Fayre and/or have Afternoon Tea. We hope you had a good time and perhaps found a bargain or two amongst the stalls. To the Afternoon Tea takers, thankyou for your patience in waiting for your pots of tea - one of the kettles decided to give up the ghost!!! We are delighted to announce that the afternoon raised £505 for Daybreaks Trust - brilliant and we are so very grateful for your support. Angie xx

The sweet Nerys came with me to Melbicks this morning. She travelled well in the car once she was coaxed in. She pulled initally on the lead but soon settled, once she was at the store she met both big and little humans and enjoyed the fuss. When small dogs went past she looked but wasnt bothered at all. Eventually she realised everything was fine and settled down for a snooze with her new roadshow buddy Cilla. Nerys is a beauty and someone will be very lucky to have her in their home.

    I’m Homed

It was another quiet day for visitors today, but thanks to our students and volunteers the boys & girls had 2 good walks, even if they were all blown along by the wind at times!!! As an excuse to spend some time with my favourite lad, I popped into Treaty's kennel to change the pillow case on his pillow. Well, he thought this was great fun and, after he tried and failed to take the clean one off me, he was determined that the old pillow case was a new toy to play with and throw around!! Bless him, he is such a gorgeous soul - his photo is still my phone screensaver so here's hoping it can work it's magic very soon. xx We tackled lots more tidying and sorting out, it is great to get the opportunity to be able to do some of the jobs that just have to take a back seat when you are busy or short of help. Rhaegal was a happy girl and has recovered well from her spey yesterday. Freddie has managed to split the end of his tail again bless him - fortunately he will have lots of space in which to wag his tail when he goes off to his new home soon. x Well, the weather isn't very spring like and the forecast for tomorrow is awful - but we are all raring to go for our Spring Fayre & Afternoon Tea tomorrow afternoon. Don't forget, even if you aren't booked for the Tea, you can still pop along and browse the stalls. There will be lots of great things on display, both for doggies and their humans, and it is all to help our lovely Greys. It is Friday and you've guessed it - it's wine time!! My wish is two fold today - forever homes for our beautiful boys & girls and an enjoyable and successful afternoon tomorrow. Angie xx
