2019 Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
Not a typical Friday today, we had lots and lots of helpers so the boys and girls were able to have 2 lovely walks and we could get on with health checks, grooming and other little jobs - it was great. Mr Nick is still a little wobbly but his face is healing well. We also had woofs and waggy tails, and his appetite certainly hasn't suffered! Hopefully his recovery will continue and he will soon be back to his usual self - bless him he is such a lovely boy. One of our helpers this morning was Ruby Rebel's Mum, she was very proud to tell us that she took Ruby to the Great Greyhound Gathering last weekend and he came 5th in the Best Black Boy class and is now the proud owner of a lovely rosette - well done handsome. I spent some time sitting on the floor of the kitchen run with the handsome Roary and his pretty little kennel mate Honey. They both loved the company and Honey, bless her, insisted on trying to climb into my lap and sit on it!! I told her she is just not a lap dog, and she eventually settled for lying on the bed next to me, such a sweetie. My handsome Roary is a true leaner and stood for ages getting cuddles. It was great to be able to have the opportunity to spend some real quality time with some of the dogs today. There were a couple of health checks and I must say that lovely little Rose was by far and away the best behaved. She stood so beautifully still to have her ears and teeth cleaned, and her nails trimmed. Such a sweetheart, still a little nervous but coming on really well, it is such a shame that her reservation has fallen through, but I'm sure she will soon find herself another sofa. Well, another weekend is on us so lets hope for some more viewings followed by some red signs. I am now off for my customary Friday night glass of wine - cheers all and have a great weekend. Angie xx

It is with tears in my eyes that write this unfortunately we had to say goodbye to Ben this morning. He was a bit slow on his walk yesterday and lay down in the lounge and couldnt get up.We had all his vital signs checked last night which were ok and we thought he had got his dentaflex stuck . We slept in the lounge with him overnight but he still couldnt get up this morning. So to the vets which revealed a massive tumor which unfortunately gave us no choice.Me ,Maria,Bryony and Linda were there ,We loved him so much and he touched everybodies hearts that knew him,and will treasure the memories he has left us with. What a dog you were Ben! Sleep tight Benny Boy love you forever xxxxxxx.

Poor Nick. You get my cuddle today. So pleased you're ok. Hopefully you'll find your forever home soon and learn not to charge at metal gates. Bert did something similar when we first had him - he saw a cat. He slid on the ice and fortunately managed to stop just shy of the gate. x

2019 Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
A big thank you to Heather and her family for collecting Beauty from her owner yesterday. They kept her overnight and dropped her off at the kennels this morning. I believe their houndie Toby was quite taken with her :)) She is a happy little soul, I'm sure it won't be long before she finds a new home. Teddy had a trip to see the vet for a check up on his paw after having a corn removed. Unfortunately he had a poorly tum last night and managed to end up with a very smelly bandage. Thankfully his pad and stitches look good and his paw has been redressed. He lay very happily on the vets bench and almost went off to sleep! We had to wait quite a while to see the vet and he was such a good boy. Apart from raising his ears a few times he took very little notice of the cat who was miaowing loudly in his carrier...went by the name of Del Boy! He also met two Basset Hounds, he just couldn't figure out what they were and had a very long, hard look at them. 🙂 x Richard managed to straighten the metal bar on the gate that Nick had bent on Tuesday. It proves how important it is to make sure the gate is closed properly. He could have ended up on the Coventry Road had he managed to get it fully open. He is about the same today, still a little wobbly but had a gentle walk in the sand run with Shirley and post op girl little Rose which he enjoyed. Xx Thanks so much to everyone for their help today. We had two ladies from HSBC who had come for a volunteer charity day. Sorry it rained on them and our other volunteers on the afternoon walks...Gail managed to fight through the bedding store and make it more presentable, thank you. :)) Alan and Paddy came in bearing gifts of donuts and sardines! X Lots of hugs to Ruth who is still feeling poorly. :(( Xxx

Perhaps Nick was collecting some 'scars' in an attempt to get a home as who can resist a dog with a story to tell and scars to prove it?! For me the more scars and war wounds anything has makes my heart melt more! You never know Nick you might have cracked it lol xxx
