I may have been a little naughty today... hehe. This morning I decided, while my humans weren’t looking, to pee on the floor. Then I sneaked off pretending nothing has happened. They soon realised though. I’m hoping they think it’s the hamsters. They seemed to look at me a lot though. It wasn’t me! Honest. Then at lunch time my humans were having McDonald’s. So when my daddy was eating his burger I jumped up and grabbed the other end trying to take the whole burger unfortunately I only ended up with a very tiny piece. My daddy managed to get me away. I was only trying to help! Barney Xx

Careful observation has revealed the contents of the bag that arrived on Sunday. Ham bones - FOR ME! Stuff they squirt on my biscuits to keep my skin and coat healthy - FOR ME! Pink stuff to go on milk - for TC. Bags of things put by my treats so they must be - FOR ME! Bag of pigs ears -FOR ME! Cheesy chips - for mom, but I do my 'never been fed' face and get to share so - FOR ME! Small boxes of worm stuff - for the SFFs. Best of all some packets of duck drum sticks - FOR ME. I'm a very lucky houndie! Lubs Florence xx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!

Another warm day today, we had enough volunteers to do morning walks, short this afternoon so James took the dogs into the sand run for a blast. Visitors for food and a family came to look at our dogs, they are going to have a chat about who they may like the most. Rose was reserved today, yah 🙂 She and Teddy went off to the vets this morning, Rose to be neutered and Teddy to see why he keeps lifting his one leg, turns out he had a deeply embedded corn, bless him 🙁 We had donations of bedding, towels and duvets as well as a surprise delivery from Tesco of sardines for the dogs and chocolate cake for the hoomans! Thanks to Carol for that, very much appreciated. We have a hornet nest at the back of the kennels, so pest control are coming to sort that tomorrow. Ruth is still not well :(( I am sure you will all join me in wishing her a speedy recovery. Take care of yourself Ruth and listen to what you are told and do it! Once again thanks to today's team, you are all just fab!. Jo xx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!

After coming home one day and finding 4 Greys on the 3rd floor of our Victorian house unable or unwilling to attempt descending whenever we have added a new "baby" to the fold we put a stair gate at the bottom step for a couple of weeks until they settle in. Well we thought Fat Neck Finn was a fast learner and the gate has been off for weeks now. However yesterday we came home and Nina met us but no Finn I looked on his bed and there was one of my teddy bear collection kept in our bedroom with its jumper half off! Just then Finn came bounding down the stairs wagging his tail very happy, has this hound no shame? Heart in mouth I went up stairs. It was like a Teddy Bear massacre lol They where strewn everywhere; He had obviously been looking for one that squeaked (he's always been a "squeak freak") and abandoned it when he found it didn't and gone back to drag another off the window seat where they are displayed. None where damaged just chomped on and bless him he had had fun. Too tired for a second walk that day Me not Finn..lol If anyone out there wants a dog with lovable quirks hurry along to Daybreaks they will have just the one for you----please x

Hi Florence I had a similar experience but not with bones. Your mum came and started carrying some things in her hand. Didn’t know what they were at first but then I saw Samantha bring in yellow box. She started to open it and I stood behind her watching. After a little wait I ended up with a pigs ear! Barney Xx

Mom snuck out the house without me this morning, she was gone for ages. I was so excited when I saw her car pull up. She carried a large bag into the house, as she past me the most delicious aromas assailed my nostrils! I thrust my head towards the bag, she was too quick, it disappeared into the kitchen. TC placed a large purple box on the stairs before wandering off. My nose twitched, a familiar smell, maybe I should... Mom took the box and it too made it into the kitchen without my help. I stood at the kitchen gate watching as the box was opened. Mom started transferring the contents to a large plastic box. "I'm here, I'm here" I screamed at her from inside my head, "look it's me, mom, mom." No response. TC returned, "a years supply" he said. I nudged the gate so it 'twanged' - "hello, little old me is here, maybe I should try them for freshness." Mom handed one to TC, "for Florence?" he said, I lick my lips in anticipation. "No, for you to weigh, there 10 kilos in the box" came moms reply. Maybe they don't know I'm here. A small wimper escapes my lips. TC "400" and then "I'm sure there will be some broken bits for you Florence" I look at him "like how long do I have to wait?" Mom continues the transfer, then I spot that they are now putting broken bits into a smaller box - "ok then guys, now, now." Finally TC turns to me, his arm moves, half a cheesey bone biscuit is extended in my direction, joy unbounded as I rush to eat it in my bed. Yum yum! Lubs to all Florence xx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!

A lovely warm day today. We still have a poorly Ruth 🙁 We had enough volunteers to do morning walks, sadly not so this afternoon, so they all had some time in the run. All in all a little quiet for visitors with just the occasional person dropping in for food. The extension to the resident cats area is making progress thanks to Andy and his dad 🙂 Would just like to say thanks for the help today, I really do appreciate it. In the immortal words of Angie, I am going to have a nice glass of wine now, oh dear I appear to be half way through it already! Maybe time for a top up. Xxxxxx
